Max Kepler Promoted, Danny Santana to DL

When a guy who had an OBP under .290 in his rookie year has a sophmore slump from what he did as a rookie, what does that look like? :-)

What does it look like, you say? Not very pretty. How about a line like this for Rosario through the first 6 games:

.200/.200/.300/(.500)

K%- 45%

BB%- 0%

Ryan says he won't play much? Mind. Boggling. Why call up an actual prospect to sit and do nothing? I do not understand.

Why the hell would he say that?  I don't get it?  Why call him up then and get his service clock ticking?  Stupid....  Maybe he's messing with people.

This board has really turned on Rosario fast.

We could see that coming quickly.   Rosario and Buxton swing at EVERYTHING.

I think it's highly probable that this team breaks it's own single season record for K's (1121 set in 1997).  Especially if Park, Sano, Rosario, Dozier, Buxton stay in the lineup for most of the season.  Those guys are ALL strikeout machines.  Collectively the team has 72 already!

Not to my recollection.  The entire offseason was spent explaining why Rosario was different than Santana and how he had so much more raw talent.   I was a little lukewarm on Rosario but let the kid play through it.

Not everyone felt that way about Rosario.

Some predicted the most likely landing spot for Kepler was replacing Rosario.

I do like Rosario more than Santana, am not ready to give up on him... but I think very good 4th outfielder is his most likely spot.

I was one of those people but in slight defense of Rosario, the kid brings it with the glove. That in itself means he won't go entirely 2015 Danny Santana on the team.

The most concerning thing about Rosario is that he has doubled down on his worst habits thus far in 2016. Somehow, he's swinging even more often than he did last season and actually making contact less often.

That's what surprised me - Rosario seems too bright to keep flailing at eye-high sucker pitches. Maybe the worst thing for him was when he actually hit one of those high balls for a home run. Now he thinks he can hit any high ball out. Dumb.

But I'm one of those neanderthals who thinks corner OF defense isn't worth worrying about.  And in any case, I doubt there's significant difference in defensive ability between the two, so it's mox nix from that angle in terms of Kepler/Rosario.

As for swinging more often, yeah, but I wonder how much of that not so much him actually swinging more, but is the league figuring out there is virtually no limit to what he'll swing at.

Nah, it's just Eddie being Eddie. His pitch zone % is actually six points higher than last season (43% last season, 49% this season).
