MLB The Show 16

Am I the only gamer on this site? MLB The Show 16 comes out today on PS4/PS3. I usually buy sports games every other year, and I'm hoping there's been enough improvements from The Show 14 that it's going to be worth the $60.

PC gamer? I used to be a PC gamer until the computer went downhill.. Bought a PS4 instead and haven't looked back.

 

Other than the occasional sports game I enjoy role-playing type of games like Assassin's Creed and the like. I'm no longer in college with 8 hours of free time, so my Call of Duty skills have completely diminished.

Those are the best modes in this series. I've never understood the fun in Diamond Dynasty or their other game modes.

I'm a Baseball Mogul player, but I do have an older version of the show.

 

I don't invest in the newer ones because they rarely are worth it and there are always updated rosters.

I've never really played much Diamond Dynasty either. Road to the Show is definitely my favorite career mode of any sports games that I've played, same goes for the Show's Franchise mode.

I'm an Xbox guy these days, but the reviews of MLB the show is having me contemplate getting a ps4.

 

As far as gaming goes: NHL 16 is a fantastic game, as is rocket league.

Ditto for me, my biggest regret in buying the Xbox One is no MLB, looking more and more like I'll have to grab a PS4.

HUT is especially good this year in NHL 16, I also like playing the drop in games (where you control one player only) goalie and D are my preferred choices.

As far as gaming goes: NHL 16 is a fantastic game, as is rocket league.

I was an Xbox 360 guy for about 8-9 years until the console got the red ring of death.. Then I switched it up to the PS4 specifically to play MLB the Show. 

The NHL franchise makes significant strides in their game play every year which I love. The only other sports franchise that does that IMO is FIFA. 

Rocket League is another great game. Just downloaded it on a whim one night and it's really fun to play!

Is your RTTS guy a pitcher or in the field? Just started one last night... SP Rick Vaughn throwing nothing but heaters and a slurve.

Not yet, will probably soon, I've only had the game about a month or so. TBH the OTP in 15 was so poor that I hadn't even thought about it much, it sounds like the EASHL and drop in play are good in 16 though. Have they brought back lobbies in 16? I haven't found a definitive answer yet.

Yeah I agree, year-over-year sports games are rarely worth $60. Especially some franchises like Madden who have pretty much given up making significant improvements with their games. 

In regards to updated rosters, that has been the best improvement from games in the past. Thanks to the efforts of online communities, you can start franchises in MLB The Show with full minor league rosters and accurate contracts. Pretty cool IMO.

Nice. I've almost always had my RTTS player as a power/speed combo at 2nd base. I think I might also do another one like yours, and make a pitcher with a great fastball and a pure knuckleball or something like that.

In NHL 14 you could join or form lobbies by invite with friends or other good players you knew to play on the same team in EASHL for OTP. They dumped that in NHL 15 and pretty much relegated you to playing with random strangers, most of whom SUCKED! Plus, when a player left his controller, the AI didn't take over like it did in 14. The whole OTP thing in 15 was a colossal cluster****, which EA promised to put out a patch for, it appears the patch is called NHL 16 and costs $80cdn...I hope anyway.
