Diamondbacks want out of Chase Field Lease

Chase Field is less than 20 years old, and their lease runs until 2024 before they can negotiate a new stadium, but it doesn't matter to Diamondbacks CEO Derrick Hall. After failing to get approval for $187 million in stadium repairs, they are now threatening to sue Maricopa county and leave Chase Field unless their demands are met.

Here's the link to the story.

That is the correct answer.

I'm sure Oakland and Tampa would kill to have a "dump" like Chase Field. Get over yourselves, Diamondbacks.

What a bunch of dirtbags. This is like buying someone a car and then having them ask you to pay for repairs after they crash it.

Based on the link and the Diamondbacks release, looks like the county has contractual agreement to make improvements to the place and if they do not do that, the team would be open to relocate.

FWIW, the Metrodome was brand spanking new in 1982.  The Twins were whining for relocation way before 2002 (20 years there.)

20 years is about the lifecycle of those places it seems.   And if the Phonecians do not want to pay for the improvements, pretty sure that someone else will.  Not a secret that MLB wants someone in Montreal as well.

Got to look at both sides.  If it is in the lease contract that they have to renovate, they better do so...
