David Dorsey of the News Press wrote a good article on Byung Ho Park. Park has been working out in Ft. Myers since Twins Fest. Through an interpreter, he talked about the transition, why he wanted to play in MLB, and what the biggest adjustment is for him... Food. He's found a couple of Korean restaurants. This is a good, interesting article...

Yeah.  Especially if you realize that the typical Korean breakfast is a rice porridge with bits of fish or meat and cheese and dough and bread and deep fried stuff do not exist there (other than in McDonald's), it is an issue.  Foods you are not used to can mess up your digestive system really quickly...

I sure hope Park knows what to do with a high-90s fastball with some late movement. And I was disappointed to learn he's already planning to tone down his bat flips. VIVA LA BAT FLIP!

I'd like to drop in an off topic compliment just cause I don't believe you should pass up chances to give someone a compliment.

 

Seth... This is just a small example of why I appreciate your insight over the insight of others. You consistently demonstrate your grasp that each ball player is more than a collection of numbers.

 

I always value your opinion because of your ability to drill down to the human level. Each player is an off the field story. There is nothing robotic about young players with hopes, dreams coming from different backgrounds and the adjustments to a new culture. It would be very strange if it wasnt a small or large cause in the overall results.
