DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Color me pumped after one episode. Different "feel" overall as they expand the Fargo universe, but I have a ton of faith overall, I would grade the pilot as an A- overall as it didn't have a crazy ass ending like season 1 and their is still a ton of balls up in the air, but other than that it was pretty great (doesn't hurt that the AV Club has said the first 4 episodes are even better than season one) Was concerned that no one could top Billy Bob Thorton in season 1, likely, no one individually will but the overall cast for season 2 seems to be perfect/spot on, and this is before we even get to see Bruce Campbell as Ronald Reagan sometime this season!
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Loved it. I'm really excited about the show - the tone and the atmosphere just kick ass. Plus - Nick Offerman!
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 This is the best show on television. Last night was exceptional and Bokeem Woodbine is going to get serious awards consideration.

I like the little nods to season one as well, like showing how a young Molly gets a lot of her police instincts from her mom, but the stubbornness and fearlessness from her dad. Very well done. Yeah every-time Bokeem and the two mutes are on the screen you are just waiting for some heavy killing to go down, they are building those characters up quite nicely IMO.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Patrick Wilson is impressing me as well, those two staredowns were intense.

Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Yeah, I loved the first season quite a bit, but I really think these first three episodes are on a new level. Like the first season, the casting is spot-on, but there are more really good performances . . . like each actor/actress is perfect all the way through.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Man the plot lines are thickening quickly through 4 episodes. S*** is about to hit the fan soon for the Gerhardt family, and the Blumquist's. I'm getting the sense that Peggy's the Lester Nygaard of this season: Letting all of the close people around her fall so she can get what she feels she deserves. Clearly she has no interest being a midwestern homemaker and wife of a butcher shop owner....
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 This show is nothing short of masterful. If you aren't watching it, you're missing the best thing on television.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Any thoughts on who you think is the Lester Nygaard this season? Peggy came to my mind because she's already manipulating Ed to do unspeakable things in order to cover up her fault in episode 1.. Then again Ed maybe due to snap now that his dream of a perfect life (multiple kids, owning the butcher shop) is crashing before his eyes.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Why does there have to be one?
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Reinforcement of my admiration of the Coen brothers. They don't do crap.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Reinforcement of my admiration of the Cohn brothers. They don't do crap. Coen brothers don't have much to do with this series, I believe they are just executive producers.

Both of those things are good things since it would be hard to top those two individual performances. Instead we get a ton of great characters this season and it expands the Fargo universe(good thing IMO)

Unsure. Prone to the path of least resistance. Can't see past the next corner, and can't see that she can't see.
jimmer Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 This show is fantastic. Was fantastic last season, is fantastic this season. If there are better shows on television, they are certainly very few in number and not better by a lot. Fantastic acting, great story.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Buckle up boys, the war is here! I'm predicting the Gerhardt's find and capture Ed Blumquist tonight... Also maybe one of the Kitchen brothers is taken out by the Gerhardt family too.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Wow. Another home run once again tonight.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hanzee is one bad dude.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Read a fan theory online that bear (the reasonable Gerhardt son) ends up becoming the head of the Fargo syndicate in season 1
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Also Bruce Campbell as RR was great.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I like that theory and his speech to his brother last night would foreshadow that well.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Also Bruce Campbell as RR was great. The scene in the bathroom was brilliant. Cruel, but brilliantly written. And as you say, well acted.

Yeah my first thought was that a whole lot of Republicans are going to be ticked off that their saint just got smacked around pretty hilariously.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Yeah my first thought was that a whole lot of Republicans are going to be ticked off that their saint just got smacked around pretty hilariously.I was just a young pup during the end of the RR era, but from what I have read, Campbell was pretty damn accurate. Reagan made up a ton of stuff apparently but was charismatic as all hell. I thought it was a fair assessment.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Will Ed and Peggy get away before they're captured by the Gerhardt's tonight??
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 Will Ed and Peggy get away before they're captured by the Gerhardt's tonight??Yeah, they eventually have to make it to Sioux Falls, no? (As it was alluded to in season 1) I have a feeling Ed is in for the long haul, he has now killed 2 guys, wonder how many more he will kill before he "gets his" Maybe Ed is the closest thing to a Lester this season? Simple man, not respected by his wife, etc
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 What an episode! Offerman comes up huge, as does Danza and Wilson.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Forgot to post after the show was over, but man, Nick Offerman was nothing short of brilliant in this last episode. Now I see why he was cast in that role. It suits him perfectly.
