TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The UFO thing was weird, but that's part of the charm of Fargo. I thought it was a good episode and I definitely didn't see this season concluding with Hanzee basically wiping everybody out.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Thoughts on the UFO: Let's look on who has actually "seen" it this season: Rye- DeadBear-DeadHanzee- Going to probably be deadPeggy(Twice)-CrazyEd- Going to probably be deadLou- Only one who will survive/isn't crazy. However in Lou's case he was getting choked out by Bear, about to lose consciousness, at the end of the day he may never know "what" he saw. That leaves Peggy as likely the only one who makes it out alive who saw the UFO, and because she is crazy nobody will really takes it seriously. Basically that seems to be the case anytime their is a UFO reported, only one person sees it etc and they aren't believed. Thus, I don't mind it, even if it was a deus ex machina.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 My instant reaction watching the UFO scene was "what the hell are they doing?" However, thinking it over again, I'm okay with it. Even in season 1 they never explained the fish falling from the sky in the last episode, and I thought nothing of it. Nice call on Hanzee going rogue Dave. I thought there might have been a chance he'd go back to the Gerhardt's only because of Bear. He must have decided there's no going back after he shot Dodd. Where does Mike Milligan go from here? Back to Kansas City to say the job is done, and the territory is theirs?
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Where does Mike Milligan go from here? Back to Kansas City to say the job is done, and the territory is theirs? I'll be a little disappointed if that's how Milligan wraps up. He was sold as more influential and important than to basically be a non-factor the second half of the season.

I think Hanzee might actually be related to the family, when Dodd called him "half breed" that made me think that perhaps Otto was actually Hanzee's dad, but because he was viewed as the "bastard" he was always treated second class by the family. Even more telling was that when he stabbed Floyd (a really well done scene) she didn't ask him "why?", it sort of appeared that she knew why he did it. I doubt Milligan is going anywhere prior to the end of the final episode, Milligan vs Hanzy has been building all season for one big show down, but then again they could pull a "no country for old men" on us and never deliver. Though, Milligan trying to take out the "last" Gerhardt Male (Hanzee) would make for some great television. My random predictions: Betsy livesHank dies (is already dead basically)Ed diesPeggy livesHanzee is killed by MilliganMilligan is killed by Simone (not dead!)Kitchen Brother gets away. Season ends with Lou, Betsy, Molly and the king of breakfast talking about UFO's and Regan over some pancakes and beer.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Just finished watching the episode. Not my favorite. I had become sympathetic to Hanzee and was disappointed to see him killing indiscriminately (or maybe not so much!). The UFO stuff was a bit offputting as well. I'll enjoy the final episode, I'm sure, and certainly some of the loose ends will be tied up.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Season 2 finale tonight!! Can't wait!

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I'm going to be sad this show is gone again for a year.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Bravo! What a spectacular season of television. Kirsten Dunst has an award winning performance to end the show. I wish there was a better finish for Milligan TBH... He should be crushing heads, not introduced to the corporate world of accounting.
jimmer Verified Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Are we supposed to figure Hanzee becomes Malvo? The whole 'he'll be back' proclamation by Lou and the whole needing a face guy for a new face during the conversation at ball field?

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Wow, what a finale and what a season!Love that they brought back Molly, Collin Hanks, and old Lou for a scene this season! As far as Hanzee, I don't think he ends up being Malvo (I guess he could be the mob boss that Malvo actually kills in season 1) but I hope either him or Milligan show up in season 3 somehow (not as a main character, but just a way to "end' their storyline) Also LOVED how they wrapped up the UFO storyline. With two seasons in the books, I rank it somewhere in the top 6 or so series I have ever watched:The WireBreaking BadSopranosFargoDeadwoodThe Shield If it can keep this up at this level for another 2-3 seasons, best. show. ever.

But Yay!)Ed dies (Boom!)Peggy lives (Boom!)Hanzee is killed by Milligan (oops!) Milligan is killed by Simone (not dead!) (That went out the window 75 seconds into the episode)Kitchen Brother gets away. (Boom!)4 out of 7 aint bad....right? right!?!

jimmer Verified Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Now that I think of it, Mr. Tripoli (the identity Hanzee took) was the Fargo mob boss that Hess worked for in season one. Tripoli sent Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers to kill whomever killed Hess.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Already have a title for Fargo season 3: Fargo : Milligan's MulliganThe story of a man who slashes the bottom line, and slits people's throats.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Jimmer's right, it was a Mr. Tripoli that Malvo killed. So Hanzee had surgery to become a fat, white guy and get killed like that? Seems...odd. I actually liked the Milligan twist. It's like his own personal hell is a reward for his good work. Really fine season of television.

Also, there is conjecture that Mr. Wrench and Mr Numbers were the two kids that were getting bullied.
