Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Author Posted September 19, 2016 Can I be banned from reading any non-Sports Bar topics? I am not sure I'm strong enough to stop....
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Can I be banned from reading any non-Sports Bar topics? I am not sure I'm strong enough to stop....I think that's a very selfish request, Mike. I mean, we'd all miss out on your responses if you banned yourself from here. It's just a selfish request. So no, you can't.

I wasn't expecting that, and I know there is a kernel of truth there, so thank you. Made me smile on many levels.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Plus, we're approaching prime Sports Bar time! We need everyone here when the threads become toxic with off-season beating dead horses topics.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 All the horses are dead. Got to find some colts, maybe a few ponies...maybe a badger or twoYeah, no more animals ... I'm ready to toss in a very small, select few posters to play the roles of dead horses. But back to the topic of the day ... ARRRRRR!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWzqcele1tY
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Today is also National Butterscotch Pudding Day! Grind up some graham crackers, put it on the bottom of a bowl, pour that pudding on top, and store in the refrigerator until it's cool. Top with cool whip and voila! Dessert!
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Arrrrrr you going to the mall today?

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Mike, Craig, Brock... This day is for you. Because it's National IT Professionals Day! I believe you are able to celebrate by not doing a single thing for your customers. Or giving the standard, "Unplug it, and plug it back in" line.Today is also National Punch Day! The word "punch" is a loanword from Hindi panch (meaning five). The drink was originally made with five ingredients: alcohol, sugar, lemon, water and tea or spices. You could celebrate this day by making punch, and crowd around the bowl of punch just like we all did at middle school dances. Finally, on this day in 1973, Bobby Riggs faces off against Billie Jean King in what is known as the "Battle of the Sexes" on the tennis court! Billie Jean King handily wins against Riggs while millions of people watched on TV.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I'll split the difference and punch my customers.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Ironically, as of this week, I will not report to IT for the first time in 2 decades......
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Ironically, as of this week, I will not report to IT for the first time in 2 decades......Promotion?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 You know, this all happened so fast, no.....and probably not more money either. Like, I suggested it 2 weeks ago, and it is already a done deal. At my company, that's unheard of. I've been doing business work, while working for IT, most of my career.....I am moving to the business to make it more clear that I am the business on this ginormous program I help lead.

Billie Jean King handily wins against Riggs while millions of people watched on TV. This is the first sporting event that I can actually remember watching. I remember my Mom talking to me about how big of a deal this match was. I responded by asking why two guys playing tennis against each other was such a big deal :-)
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Sounds like you're pulling a Wally from Dilbert, Mike...

I responded by asking why two guys playing tennis against each other was such a big deal :-)As someone who was not alive in this time, I'm wondering why they chose a 55 year old man Bobby Riggs to face Billy Jean King? Isn't that the equivalent of Jon McEnroe playing against Serena Williams today?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 I can't see that on my work computer.....but did you just call me Wally?
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I can't see that on my work computer.....but did you just call me Wally? You'll have to read it on your phone or at home later. It will make sense.
