Insignificant signing or not?

7/25 Twins signed LF Xavier Avery to a minor league contract.  Is this just another run of the mill minor league signing or adding a player to take Arcia's roster spot in Rochester?  I don't expect Avery to ever really contribute to the big league club but the move gives Rochester six outfielders three of which are LF.  Wilken Ramirez is on the 7-day DL I don't know how long he's been on the DL and don't know if it'll be long term or not.  So is this a move anticipating Arcia will be called up or traded or just an extra outfielder?

It is like every other move the Twins make at the trade deadline.... Insignificant.

Is it just me, or do the Twins seem more interested in helping Rochester to a pst season slot than the Twins?

This move blocks AA OF from being promoted. That is about it.

Well seeing as how Ramirez broke his leg and is out for the season Rochester only has 5 outfielders that can play.

Just AAA depth (but I'd rather see them promote Kepler).

I'd look for one of the older-ish player to be put on waivers.  Avery is still only 25, but I don't really see anything exciting about him.
