But it looks like the Mets will make Gilmartin a LOOGY, if nothing else.

Also, given his likely LOOGY status, his overall spring numbers are probably less important his splits (I have no idea what his spring splits are like, but his 2014 and career splits show LOOGY potential).
Hrbowski Verified Member Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I really hoped we wouldn't get him back.
Dman Verified Member Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Maybe he is better than I think he is, but he seems to get hit hard at times and give up big innings. I think we be will just fine without him. I wish him the best with the Mets and maybe Loogy will lead to greater success for him but I doubt it.
whosafraidofluigirussolo Verified Member Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Interestingly, though, the Mets traded for two lefty relievers today. I think it makes little ultimate difference to the Twins since they're already likely to go light on LHP in order to make room for Boyer, Pelfrey, Graham; I don't see Gilmartin sticking with this team either. But maybe a minor trade for the Mets to keep him will net someone interesting.

If the Mets offer him back and Terry Ryan ponies up the modest dough, he's theirs and can be stashed in the minors. I'd favor a discussion of a trade though.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 The Twins love their soft-tossing lefties, though I guess not enough to protect this one. It's getting a little crowded at Rochester and the big club though, I would have thought the Twins would have been more than willing to work out a trade with the Mets, but the fact that the Mets are keeping him may indicate that there were some discussions and the Twins told them to suck it. Anyway, I'm good with any outcome that keeps 88 mph meatballers out of the system.
