When Baxendale was going lights out at Fort Meyers, I heard Ryan mention that he expected Baxendale to reach the majors (stuff, makeup, etc.).  I hope he does well at AA this year.  That would be a step in the right direction after a season and a half of regression.

Looks like Baxendale may be back to his 2013 form.

Today against Baltimore's Double A group, he pitch 5 innings - 3 hits (bunt + bloop single), 1 run and 9 k's.

At one point he k'd 5 Orioles in a row !!

What's the scouting report on Baxendale?

I should really get the prospect handbook

My opinion is that 1.) he'll have to show he can stay healthy, and 2.) he will have to get off to a fast start in AA Chattanooga this year or he may get moved to the bullpen. he's got good stuff, and when healthy, he can dominate. Fastball/Slider combo is very good. Might fit in a bullpen even better.

Good to hear. He got hit hard the day I watched him, about a week ago.

NOT saying I know a single thing about him other than what I've read or seen in the boxscores. But something about him has always reminded me of Radke. Am I nuts?

Not to sound bad, but he's pretty much nothing like Radke.

He's shorter, throws a slider instead of a changeup, doesn't have as good of control, stuff like that.

Radke was very good in the minors. Baxendale has stopped being good after A ball. They are different in other ways too, but there are clear statistical differences. He has no chance of making MLB unless as a reliever, and then it's still pretty dubious.

You can find my scouting report of Baxendale from last week here.  I have been probably higher than most on Baxendale, based on the way he was pitching couple springs ago right before he moved to Fort Myers and his Fort Myers' performance.

Radke style is a pretty decent comparison, so is Alex Wimmers.  I think that Wimmers and him are on the same boat, and might sail, if they do not perform in AA.  Neither of the 2 is really suited for the pen and with RH arms like Burdi, Reed and Peterson and a couple who will fail as starters, there is really no space for them...

If he can't touch 90's consistently he has to pitch perfectly to be effective.

He got exposed when he hit AA and I expect nothing from him unless he can tick up his FB.
