Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 No! Daniel Bard plays in the Red Sox organization. However, last night, Twins supplemental first-round draft pick (and Daniel's brother) Luke Bard tweeted a picture from Target Field. He was at the game yesterday and obviously there would have been some business talked while he was there as well. I tweeted him and asked if there was any business discussions at Target Field yesterday. I then noted that not ALL Twins games are THAT long. He responded by tweeting, "Yeah, that was a long one!! Glad we won!" So although he didn't answer the question directly, could the word "WE" indicate that he has signed or is near signing? I have little concern that he will sign. It would just be great to get it done sooner rather than later.
Cody Christie Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I was a little concerned about him signing so I am glad to hear that he was at Target Field. Hopefully the deal gets done and he can get put on a rookie league roster for the rest of the year.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Isn't he just getting off an injury?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Yup, he just tweeted "Officially a Twin."
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Great. Any idea where he'll go?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 I'd say first to Ft. Myers to work for a few days. Then I would guess he'd go to Beloit, possibly to the Miracle.
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 what's the story on his shoulder??? Is he good to go right off the bat??
boney Verified Member Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Does anyone have an idea on how signable Baxendale(sp) will be?
darin617 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 So much for Fanatic Jack and his thoughts about Luke Bard going back to college. Hopefully Jack is part Mayan and the world does not end 12/21/2012...
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 According to LEN3, Bard signed for slot. He'll go to Fort Myers to have his shoulder treated before being assigned to a club.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Bard spent the remainder of the season getting healthy and makes his debut at instructs this fall.

Lat and shoulder are sometimes used interchangeably in injury reports.
glunn Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 This is very good news. Nice job Twins!
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Are we sure they're not talking about the same thing? Lat and shoulder are sometimes used interchangeably in injury reports.I think it is the same thing - LEN3 said the Twins knew about the problem before they drafted him, so it doesn't sound like it's anything new they've found. He could get "treated" and assigned quickly, if the shoulder is in good shape.
