I actually am not anti-Jeter and definitely think he has deserved some of the accolades and has always handled himself pretty well. I just think the media has taken the adulation a bit too far. It makes me wonder if he has given them all gift baskets.

 

(and I am a little bitter his retirement tour and media frenzy is coming close to eclipsing when they found out my career was winding down).

Yep... Turned on the TV this Morning... Flipped on CNN and it was all bombing Syria and I watched and watched... Finally... I said... Ok... I think I get it and I turned over to ESPN and it was all Derek Jeter and I watched and watched and finally I said... I think I get it... And I flipped back to CNN and it was still ISIS and Syria and Lone Wolfs... Experts all over the place... And I flipped back to ESPN and it was still. Derek Jeter... Experts all over the place. Eventually... I just turned on... Sesame Street... And wouldn't you know it... Big Bird was talking about about bombing Derek Jeter.

Exactly... Nonsense makes the world go round.

Nope. It's somewhat summery here today and tomorrow should hit 80. Not my ideal 85, but it'll do.

Thank You... As promised... Only controversial thoughts for the next 10,000 posts.

 

Things to Think About:

 

1. Copyright Infringement --  I was gonna start my own television show... But because of my body shape... The Teletubbies threatened me with Copyright Infringement. 

 

2. The Universe -- So this guy tells me that there are billions of stars in the Universe and when I question that... He tells me it's true and he knows and I should trust him. I then told him not to sit down on that bench because the paint was wet. He then touches it... he doesn't believe me but I'm supposed to believe his crazy theory.

 

3. Yoko Ono -- When Beatles Rock Band came out... Our Family bought it... Why not?... We had all the rock band equipment that comes with the game. Turns out it had a virus. If you play it too long... Yoko Ono comes over and breaks up the band.

 

4. Prisons -- The News had a story about the proliferation of Prison Riots. Saying something must be done with our Prison System. I was trying to think of a solution... If only... there was a place where you could send these rioting people... To keep them away from the others.

 

5. Pirates in the Indian Ocean -- September 19th was International Talk like a pirate day. I didn't participate because I didn't have the time to learn the Somali language.

 

You must have forgotten that Aaargh is the international greeting for pirates. A Aargh here and a Aaargh there, and a parrot on your shoulder and you could have faked your way thru the whole day.. That said I have always wondered if the Somalians are really pirates? I watched the Tom Hanks movie, and there was not one parrot, wooden leg, or eye patch in the whole movie!

If you only had one eye... Would you want a parrot with a pointy beak on your shoulder. It was probably the parrot who took out the first eye.

Easy player to like, Paulie. Good player, too.

I was at a Sox-Twins game with my bro here in Chicago, back when Thome was on the Twins. And my bro starts talking to this Sox fan and they were commenting on the running speeds of Thome and Konerko, and someone asks who they thought would win a running race, and the Sox fan said something to the effect 'It would take a week but Thome would leave Konerko in the dust.'

I actually loved the weather at ModCon, especially at Sunday's game.

If you like summer, that is summer. I wish it were like that everyday - although I should have used some sunscreen. No biggie, I was George Hamilton for a week.
