diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Think about Jeter.... a .649 OPS, crappy defense, yet a starting all star. Think about not having to see the press fawn all over him anymore after this season.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Think about that new Jeter Rr2pect commercial..........and try not to vomit all over yourself.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 heh ... guess no one has much in way of thoughts tonight?
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 heh ... guess no one has much in way of thoughts tonight? Yeah, well Idina Menzel put me to sleep.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Well, hmm, not a huge fan of Idina Menzel.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Should've had the brass from the Minnesota Orchestra do the SSB ... that would've been awesome.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 That is one nice looking ball park. Beautiful night for the game. I like Jeter, but I would be OK with less fawning. Before my last year, I did not announce in spring training that I was retiring because I did not want to deal with the media frenzy wherever I went - not to mention the tears of all the grieving fans.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Well, hmm, not a huge fan of Idina Menzel. I'm firmly convinced that the music rule for sporting events should be: 1. Upbeat tempo;2. Keep it simple;3. Keep it short. Get on with it!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Well, that aside, I'd just rather hear someone ... better. That shot of her when she sang 'rockets red glare' and her tongue hanging out? Great.

I guess they played the Canadian National Anthem ... but didn't see it broadcast, but I now see pictures from friends' Facebook posts.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 I hope I don't have to see that commercial any more tonight.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I hope I don't have to hear that announcer any more tonight.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Okay, Jeter definitely has a sense of the moment.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I hope I don't have to see that commercial any more tonight. Is he going to ascend into the heavens during the seventh inning stretch? (I did like how they blurred Mr. Mets head).
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Maybe Matheny should have started Kershaw???

Hoping for a good game and good game thread, but my enthusiasm is a little low. Hard to explain, but to me, hosting the ASG when the Twins are in another down year is like hosting the rotating MN family Christmas when there's no snow and you and your little brother both have pinkeye. Still cool, because, well, Christmas, but still... And while I don't dislike Jeter the way some people do, the Jeterification of this ASG is reaching the point where I might before it's over.

I rarely watch much of the ASG. I like the intros and the pre-game stuff. The actual game ... usually not so much. But yeah, it is a bit of a downer. But Miggy picks me up!
LaBombo Verified Member Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I hope I don't have to see that commercial any more tonight. Just a guess, but do you mean the re2pect thing? Two-spect just makes me think of a deceased entertainer... http://a1.files.biography.com/image/upload/c_fill,g_face,h_300,q_80,w_300/MTE5NTU2MzE1OTkzOTAwNTU1.jpg Probably just another sign of my advancing case of G.O.M.L. disease, but gratuitous use of hashtag/L33tspeak stuff in everyday life makes me happy that is on my side:
