I harass mine about 5 miles a day. She sleeps like a baby.

 

I'd do that with mine, but unfortunately he's not trained to run. He wants to sniff every blade of grass, mark every phone poll, and poop every half mile... doesn't make for a good run.

Grilled salmon with fresh cherry and ground mustard glaze. It'll be tart/sweet, with those awesome little slippery mustard seeds. I have no idea what else is going to happen, but I'm feeling inspired.

It's amazing that your daughters don't each weigh 200 pounds with all of the great food that you prepare. Maybe the key is the fact that the food is so healthy.

That is the key; that and they are also athletes (well, the one is, that I know) so also getting plenty of exercise.

Many moons ago, dog-sat for a lab that stole my $700 dental appliance off the dresser. All I found was the mangled remains of the case.

Walking my dog is like walking with another person. She has never been on a leash, and wont go into a street for any reason, unless I go first. I had the luxury to train and socialize her when I was recovering from a knee replacement, so I had the time to do it right. It's almost like she is the neighborhood's dog, not just ours.

I've been enjoying the game today, so I'm a little reluctant to throw out something negative...but TK is really bugging me today. It's not that he's doing anything different, just his normal stuff. But it bugs me. Here are my thoughts.

 

1) Baseball is a joyful game...you can feel the joy that we all get from baseball in these game threads. But TK is joyless. I understand his deal is "never too high, never too low", but when the rookie drives in four runs with some great at bats, loosen up a little! God, his droning is difficult to listen to.

 

2) TK is a dinosaur. Last night you could just feel the pain in his voice every time Houston shifted on defense. He just doesn't want to accept the evidence of its effectiveness. I admire TK's knowledge of the game, in general, but his Luddite-ness has rubbed off on Gardy, and hurts the team.

 

3) I hate it when he starts a sentence with "Again". It's so dismissive. It's like he's saying "I've told you this so many times, but you baseball mortals just don't get it"

 

What's wrong with me? Ranting during a 7-0 game. I don't know...he's just rubbing me the wrong way. I'm looking forward to silly Bert returning!

 

And now, since baseball is always a joyful experience for me, I'm going to head down to my favorite batting cage in south LA and take a few swings!

Yeah, I'm hoping to do that with my next dog. My current dog I got as a rescue at 3, so we had different issues with him. The job lead I'm most interested in right now involves working out of my home. If I do that, I think it's time to get a puppy.
