Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Big poop. At least it was close. Over all not a bad game.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 I want Hughes to utterly shut them down tomorrow.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Correia's last three starts--3 R in 6 IN, 4 R in 7 IN, 1 R in 6 IN. That is under a 4 ERA. Fervent hopes for his DFA aren't going to happen. I think the best hope is to raise his value enough to get something at the deadline.

And I have to admit my hope was for a good enough performance this year to lead to a profitable trade in July. I just don't think that's going to happen though. He still has a .312 BAA and a 1.52 WHIP, both worse than his already modest career numbers. It's going to be tough to generate a lot of interest with that. I think we need to put his last three games in perspective too. I didn't see the Texas game, but I watched today and was in San Diego for the Padres game. Today he was very fortunate to come out the way he did, with great Twins defense and poor Yankee base running offsetting the 10 runners he put on in 6 innings. And San Diego didn't field a big league lineup that night. The highest batting average of their 4-9 hitters that night was .206! And they still knocked him around pretty good in the 5th. I like KC and admire what he does with substandard stuff, but if the BAA stays above .300, I don't know how much longer Gardy can continue to run him out there. If Johnson continues to shine in AAA (not to mention May, and even Meyer) I see a DFA within a month.
