Stringer, he has been gritty... I'll give you that. And I have to admit my hope was for a good enough performance this year to lead to a profitable trade in July. I just don't think that's going to happen though. He still has a .312 BAA and a 1.52 WHIP, both worse than his already modest career numbers. It's going to be tough to generate a lot of interest with that.

 

I think we need to put his last three games in perspective too. I didn't see the Texas game, but I watched today and was in San Diego for the Padres game. Today he was very fortunate to come out the way he did, with great Twins defense and poor Yankee base running offsetting the 10 runners he put on in 6 innings. And San Diego didn't field a big league lineup that night. The highest batting average of their 4-9 hitters that night was .206! And they still knocked him around pretty good in the 5th.

 

I like KC and admire what he does with substandard stuff, but if the BAA stays above .300, I don't know how much longer Gardy can continue to run him out there. If Johnson continues to shine in AAA (not to mention May, and even Meyer) I see a DFA within a month.
