Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 If we can end up with something out of Wimmers that will be awesome, like found money just because of how long it's been since he's been relevant.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I'm pulling for Wimmers. He has had a series of misfortunes since signing with the Twins, but maybe there is hope that he will amount to something.
70charger Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Wimmers ended with 6 IP 1 H and 6 Ks! Great line. So what's the timetable with Wimmers? Will we see him in the Eastern League at some point?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Alex Wimmers had Tommy John surgery. That's what he's coming back from. a small follow up elbow cleanup late last fall as well. But, there's a reason he was a first round pick, and if he is healthy, there's no reason to believe he can't live up to that.
righty8383 Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 You guys see the stat line on Max Kepler? Just 1 strike out in 32 AB's, yet he's only managed 3 hits.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 Great line. So what's the timetable with Wimmers? Will we see him in the Eastern League at some point? It's hard to believe he's been with the org for almost as long as Gibson. Injuries have really done a number on him. I'd think that this would mean he's going to be on the fast track if he has sustained success. Tonight was a nice start. My guess is that he's in AA by June if he continues to pitch well.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 My guess is that he's in AA by June if he continues to pitch well. I'd even up that by a month, just one or two more starts in high-A if they are good. The thinking could be, he's 25, let's get him May-June in AA and if he *still* does well let's see how he does in AAA the rest of the season. An innings limit might make the AAA part abbreviated.
