I even contributed a post to my own blog yesterday, where I went through my personal fake Hall of Fame ballot. If you missed it, check it out! Today, I want to discuss an even more important and personally significant Hall of Fame: The Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame. Voting is going on as we speak, using the democratic hallmarks of Facebook and Twitter.
The Minnesota Twins have added some strength to their pitching rotation with the signing of Phil Hughes on a three-year contract. The 29-year old ended his six-year association with the New York Yankees at the end of last season, signing a three-year deal worth a reported $24 million. The move to the Twins could well be just what Hughes needs after a tough couple of seasons at the Yankees. The pitcher finished the 2010 season as an All Star after a year in which he went 18-8 with a 4.19 ERA a
Should the twins pursue Arencibia, catcher non tendered by the Blue Jays? He would be cheap, he has power or do you like Salty...better? If we sign Arencibia...then you have a veteran presence...and Pinto plays the most...isnt that what we want?
Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ---- This is the second segment of the 2014 off-season Twins top 40 prospects, counting down prospects 31 to 35. Prospects 36-40 are here and you can find all segments in reverse order here. I feel I need to make a couple of clarifications about this list (which is a bit different that others.) First of all, I consider players who have played in the majors, as "graduating" from prospect status. You made big league money, you are not
Recognizing first the possibility that Kazmir had little interest in joining the Twins vs. A's, I'm wondering what the feeling is out there about Kazmir on a 2/22 vs. Nolasco on a 4/48 contract. Personally, I prefer Kazmir and his contract, since he has more upside and the commitment is shorter. In fact, I'd have gone higher (2/24 or 25) for Kazmir if he really did prefer the A's to see if he might think twice.
Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ----- I have not attempted a full detailed one of those, but I think that with the Twins getting better this off-season and the possibility of trades of prospects for established players being a true possibility, I thought that it might be a good idea. There are a lot of prospect lists out there and they are all slightly different because different people value different qualities in a player, but they all serve a great singular purpose:
After my blog complaining bitterly about gatg and their non baseball talk, their last episode was what I want and very enjoyable. I still dont like the drinking references..but it was much improved. The next Free agent the twins should sign is Mike Pelfrey. His second half last year was very good. Before the FA signings I said Pelfrey should be number one, now here is what I want the Rotation to Look like..... Nolasco Deduno Hughes Correia Pelfrey That is a competitive rotation and should
The Twins were doing their own shopping over the busy Thanksgiving weekend. According to multiple reports, starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco will sign a four-year, $49 million contract. When this deal is finalized, it will be the largest free agent contract in the organization's history. Minnesota had been rumored to be pushing hard for Nolasco and they were able to land their man. The Twins didn't stop there as reports surfaced on Sunday night of the Twins agreeing to terms with Phil Hughes.

I haven't blogged for TD, or anywhere else, but this topic will be too long for a simple thread post. The Twins signed Ricky Nolasco and Phil Hughes and the world is shocked. As much as the Twins community has turned the 'pitch to contact' theme into a punchline, the philosophy of the team remains. It has always appeared that the Twins were fond of pitchers who could go deep into games by limiting their P/PA. While that theory had brought them success in the early 2000s, the staff had trended so
Originally posted at Kevin Slowey was Framed! Where were you when the Twins became a completely different franchise? In the last 72 hours or so, the Twins have doled out $73 million in long-term contracts, surpassing their previous off-season record by nearly $300 billion dollars (if you believe some fans). On Wednesday, the Twins signed Ricky Nolasco to a four-year deal, and tonight, they added former Yankee Phil Hughes to an increasingly (and suddenly) talented starting rotation. Hughes w
Latest post on mlbtraderumors references an article by LaVelle E. Neal III citing an anonymous source as the Twins have signed Phil Hughes. This is supposed to be a 3/24 contract. If this is correct it is good news. I would rather have a different pitcher, but this signing cannot hurt. Decent price for a pitcher. TR at least is getting decent value for Poland's money.
The Minnesota Twins are reportedly still discussing a contract with free-agent catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia who would fill the position left vacant by Joe Mauer who has announced he is moving to first base. The speculation in the MLB betting news comes just after the Twins agreed to sign the former LA Dodgers righthander Ricky Nolasco on the biggest contract Minnesota have ever offered to a player. The record previously belonged to outfielder Josh Willingham, who signed a three-year $21
News broke yesterday that former Marlins/Dodgers pitcher, Ricky Nolasco will be signing with the Twins (reportedly for a four/five year deal worth between 49 and 62 Million dollars). There are many things to consider in this signing: the sudden acquisition of a (relative) strike out artist for a "pitch-to-contact" team; the commitment through 2018 (making Nolasco one of only 3 Twins guaranteed that long a deal); the degree of responsibility and position of "leader" foisted on a player who has on
I am not a follower of Donald Trump. I have participated in several no kings rallies and am disgusted with what he and his followers have done to our country and the world. I would like to know what most Brazilians feel about the United States now and about the folks our citizens have elected to represent us.
