Which type of toys encourage creativity in kids?

It's amazing how much children can grasp right from a young age. Encouraging creativity in a child is one of the things every parent should do. Toys which encourage creativity in kids can be broadly classified into three main categories - arts, crafts and music. They commonly involve hands-on activities like making a craft project, painting, coloring, drawing, clay modelling etc. Art related activity toys concentrate on the aesthetic side of things, encouraging the use of colors and sh

The Hall of Fame Ballot Gets Crowded

It’s time. There are only a couple days left before Hall of Fame ballots are due in. Yes, those holy guardians of all that is right and just in baseball (voting members of the Baseball Writers Association of America) must soon stop writing about how hard it is to perform their duties as HoF voters and just vote, already.   As I’ve written several times, I don’t believe the writers have any business sitting in judgment of anyone else’s morality. If they would just vote based on players’ achie

Looking at the Twins SO/9 ratio

Originally posted at http://wp.me/p1YQUj-2D6     Minnesota Twins pitchers have finished dead last in the American League in strikeouts the last three years and you all know where the team has finished in the standing during that time frame. When the Twins came into existence in 1961 the SO/9 average in the American League was 5.2 SO/9 and it slowly climbed to 6.1 SO/9 in 1967 but then started sliding down to under 5.0 SO/9 from 1974 to 1983. Since then it started climbing and for the first time

Twins 40-Man Roster Analysis: Infield

Originally posted at Kevin Slowey was Framed!   Over the last week or so, I've been investigating the Twins' 40-man roster to try to determine who will contribute to the next good Twins team. I've reached the end of this short journey and will cover the infielders today. However, I did complete this activity in four parts, so if you missed the first three, you can find them here:   Starting Pitchers Relief Pitchers Catchers/Outfielders   Now that we have hyperlinks out of the way, we can look

Tiger just cant change its stripes....

Recently I complained about GATG and their lack of baseball, so I downloaded their recent podcast. Dont bother, it was wayyy worse than the one I complained about. I wonder what their goal is, comedy? ouch...Cant be baseball, remotely touched on...my advice to you, watch for Seths podcast or any other but GATG unless you for some reason need to listen to senseless drivel....avoid or completely waste your time. I am aware that Bonnes can ban me and you never have the benefit of my opinion again.

By the numbers: a body count of the Twins' pitching depth for 2014 and myth busting

Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch --- The major priority of the Minnesota Twins' General Manager, Terry Ryan, has been to re-build a rotation that has been at the bottom of the major leagues in pretty much every statistical category in 2014. There is a general agreement that the rotation was pretty much "a mess" in 2013 and needed fixing. There is also the general impression that the Twins' pen was one of the strengths of the team and it is better left alone. However, t

How many catchers?

The Twins signed Kurt Suzuki to a one year deal, pending a physical. They have three other catchers on their roster: Josmil Pinto, Chris Herrmann and Eric Fryer.   My question is, how many catchers will the team want to take north? Barring injuries, Pinto and Suzuki are the two top favorites to make the team. But will the Twins carry a third catcher? Reading other posts on this site, many seem to think Herrmann is the third catcher;   I'm not so sure. I think Fryer would actually beat him out

Profile of the newest Minnesota Twin: C Kurt Suzuki

Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ----   It has been reported that the Minnesota Twins have Signed 30 year old C Kurt Suzuki to an 1 year $2.75 million contract plus incentives. He will provide catching depth, allowing the Twins to pace the use of Josmil Pinto and Chris Herrmann at the catcher position in a way that it is most appropriate for them. He would also act as insurance, in case one or both of the rookies need additional work at AAA. The Twins would need to creat

Can Terry Ryan Truly Change His Stripes?

There’s a lot of chatter on this here interweb thingy lately concerning what Twins General Manager Terry Ryan’s next moves will be and should be. He came out of the gate fast this offseason, immediately setting out to shore up – if not completely rebuild – the Twins’ starting pitching rotation by signing free agents Ricky Nolasco, Phil Hughes and Mike Pelfrey.   But there’s still more than a little doubt as to whether this is truly a new Terry Ryan, willing to spend Pohlad money to make th

Twins Continue to Chase new Faces

Rumours about potential new recruits continue to circulate even after the Minnesota Twins added Mike Pelfrey to the 2014 payroll.     The Twins have now signed three free agent starters to join Kevin Correia in the rotation, but general manager Terry Ryan is believed to still be looking at adding more new faces.     According to the bet365 MLB betting page, the Twins reportedly remain interested in signing Bronson Arroyo even after bringing in Pelfrey.     It seems unlikely that the 36-year-old

Episode 64: Twins Trade Ryan Doumit

http://assets.podomatic.net/ts/19/ad/da/paulpleiss/1400x1400-347x347+0+42_9099158.jpg   Paul is away celebrating his birthday but this week on the podcast, Cody and Eric spend 60+ minutes talking about the Ryan Doumit trade, what to do with all of the Twins' mediocre pitching, and the awful All-Star Game Logos that the Twins are putting all over everything. Down on the Pond we take a look at the 2014 Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook and the profile of Bryan Haar. They also talk beer, and base

Moves to Come?

As everyone who stays caught up on Twins news knows by now, Ryan Doumit was traded to the Braves yesterday for Sean Gilmartin. When I heard about this news, it got me thinking. At the moment, the Twins have a high number pitchers on their 40-man roster. After they added Gilmartin, their 2013 AAA pitching group got even more crowded, and I have a feeling that more moves might be coming to fix that.   The Twins' pitching rotation at the Major League level currently includes Phil Hughes, Ricky Nola

Diversity in the Minor Leagues

There are roughly 145 minor league players in the Twins organization. As I look at the Twins current players - I found these approximate numbers: 96 Players - White 66% 40 Players - Hispanic / Latino 28% 06 Players - African American 4% 03 Players - Asian 2%   Does anyone know how these numbers correlate with the rest of the (MLB) league? This has the Twins with at least 34% of their MiLB players being minorities. What happened to all the African American baseball players in America?
