  1. Obviously he is pointing out the incentive he does have to sign.
  2. Cruz is top tier on many levels. That is undeniable.
  3. In one way none of the pitchers we picked up are going to be quite like Gibson. Can you imagine Gibby and his wife getting kicked out of a Viking's game and arrested? Hilarious!!!
  4. They also signed Odo and Pineda and we still have 2 months left. So far they have signed the free agent pitchers Gleeman had ranked as the 6th,8th and 13th best available. Something like that. Plus wherever he had Bailey ranked. Hill was at 13 because of availability concerns but if healthy he will pitch as well as the best on the list. One more big acquisition, either Donaldson or a trade for a pitcher and we are looking pretty good. Hard to be patient though.
  5. I'm ok with this type of signing as long as we load up on depth and play the hot hand. They did bench Schoop last year maybe they will not be averse to cutting their losses with a pitcher.
  6. That is true but I suggest that it suggests nothing. We do not have the data yet.
  7. Kind of impossible to grade an off season before it is over. You really can't even access something like a mid-term grade because you don't have the full context yet. We're still 2 days away from the day they signed Cruz last year. Just sayin.
  8. Romero's oddly disastrous season has to be a fluke, doesn't it? How can a guy come up and dominate as a starter for 5 starts one year then he can't even find the plate the next? You gotta think a guy like him with his talent picks it up a bit this year. Romero along with Alcala give us some potential bullpen depth with big talent. Looking forward to watching it play out.
  9. Littel IS surprisingly young. When he came up as a starter he seemed like a back ender at best. The move to the pen was an eye opener for me. The stuff looks really good. The 23 year old didn't handle his surprising insertion into a playoff game but I don't think that will have any future ramifications. From what he has said he really likes the pen. Not having to pace himself. Unlike Duffey who took a long time to embrace the role Littel is into it. We could see some further development this coming season.
  10. Fun guy to have on the squad. Is clutch and sets a calm example.
  11. I like Astudillo and think the point about him needing a break is on the money. The guy is pretty funny but also a gamer. Well except when he spiked Arraez. I expect him to be part of the 26 man shuttle hoping he takes a step.
  12. I doubt any media members are emotionally invested enough in any Twins fan to hate them. I would bet the house they get annoyed sometimes. It's simple. Dogs are relentlessly positive. Everybody loves dogs. If fans are overly optimistic and simplistic they may cause some incredulous head shaking but not much irritation. Now if someone is always complaining and negative about a situation it gets old. Nobody likes a whiner. The Pohlads are going to spend between approximately $125 & $150 million on payroll this year. That could easily have been surmised at the beginning of the off season. From what we know if they don't get their man they will be closer to the lower number. They will also leave a little wiggle room for in season moves. We can wish all we want that their revenue was $500m instead of $250m but don't think it's going to work. Remember wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first. If it's not the one you want you can always stomp out of the room.
  13. "I don't want to hear about market size, players like Yasmani Grandal will sign with the Brewers if the money is right." I've got it! The Brewers, what does that bring to mind? BEER! It's like a subliminal message. Who doesn't just completely like beer? NOBODY. Goodbye Minnesota Twins, hello Minnesota Brewmasters. Take that Sconnie!
  14. I stand corrected Madbum Schmadbum. Sign the Ayatollah guy from Teheran!
  15. He gunned down 52% last year and 30% for his career. An upgrade there. I think Castro wants a starter gig.
  16. "So are we getting better? I would say after the performance of our catcher platoon last year holding serve there is quite good. Also while Castro may have the slight edge at framing Avila guns em down better so a wash.
  17. Sigh of relief. Of course two of Bumgarner, Gausman, Ryu and Keuchel (Stausberg) would take me from a sense of relief to truly impressed. I really want to see Pineda show up in top shape. No excuse not to. A lighter Pineda could be healthier than ever allowing him to get closer to his MASSIVE potential. An interesting possibility to make lemonade out of his suspension is how this could be perfect for Graterol's development. Let him work the early season as a starter then slide to the pen to ease his innings the rest of the way. Perfect. For sure he can't have a spring like Romero for this to work.
  18. Not sure who your talking about here? If your talking Bumgarner I get that he got into it with Puig but he got after it with Muncy too. I doubt he would be a clubhouse problem. The guy does want to win.
  19. Madbum's fastball velocity went back up over 92 close to his peak years now 2 years removed from his shoulder injury. Spin rate is back up too. Getting excited!!! Gotta get a no dirt bike clause in that contact.
  20. That was fool money for Wheeler but I'm still bummed. A starter with heat like that? Would've been fun. At least this is happening fast this year let's get two of Pineda, Baumgarner, Ryu and Gausman!
  21. Since my Dad isn't even aware of the website I'm safe even participating in this thread. I agree with 1 and 2. 3 I would change slightly. Since Gibson was hurt and Perez was not performing adding a starter was the ticket. I do not get the interest in Stroman however. Now that deal the was mentioned for Syndergaard? Count me in.
  22. Must've made his money with the Hooters franchise.
  23. After seeing what Moose got it's frightening to think what Rendon and Donaldson are going to get. Is the free agent market going to have a bounce back this year? Pohlad better dust off the checkbook!
  24. I think Pineda was trying to lose weight. He had the knee surgery the year before which probably impacted him getting in shape last year. This year we could see a slimmer Pineda. This guy has upside, sign him.
