  1. I know he's due $5m, but I just don't see Bundy as a viable starter or reliever for that matter. He may have been something special at one time but that ship has sailed. He has AAAA stuff at best. Signing Bundy? Ok I guess, but he was the one I was least excited about. The mistake we have no excuse to make is the same mistake we made last year. Not knowing when to cut bait. Bundy is pretty much responsible for two losses now and I've seen enough. What role can that pitcher we saw tonight play on a winning team?
  2. I agree that I don't think Ryan was impressive last night. The kid did keep the squad in the game, but I'm hoping for more from him. Compared to a Berrios melt down, Joe does seem to hold it together and I think that bodes well for his future.
  3. "Oh yeah I forgot about that part, my bad. I would've been ok with him finishing that inning and wasn't sure why they took him out. " As the haze of my memory of last night's game clears didn't they bring in Thielbar to face a lefty who he promptly retired? Just a pitch or two? Seems to have worked out.
  4. Oh yeah I forgot about that part, my bad. I would've been ok with him finishing that inning and wasn't sure why they took him out. I just don't understand the fascination with how many innings a starter throws, and to add something else to my point, the fascination with saves. Neither matters to me at all. I want wins, to maximize the use of my relievers and healthy pitchers when the playoffs start. 5 innings gets the starter the win stat? I don't care it is the W for the team that is all that matters.
  5. Tough guy, eh?. I'm ok with the way they are handling him. He had a short spring training, never pitched more than 123 innings in a year and that was 3 years ago and last year he had a low innings count because he was at the minors with TB, then the Olympics, then the Twins, total 92 innings. Last night I wouldn't say his command was off, but the ump was off and Joe didn't get a couple of calls he should have. To top it off he gets stung with broken bats and squibs. No reason imo to send him back out for possibly 100 pitches when he isn't streched for that yet and you are grinding on a guy with high confidence just to get one more inning today. Short sighted and pointless to prove what?
  6. Do you really think the Twins will sign a 10 year $300+m deal? Do you think Correa and Boras are open to a discount? I don't see it at all and I don't want the Twins to sign that kind of deal for anybody. Royce for starting SS next year! My 2¢.
  7. If we agree that Correa will be gone after this year, I would keep Royce at SS in the minors until the end of the year then bring him up for a playoff push. He needs the development there and it looks to me he absolutely could be our opening day starting SS next year. With this good start his floor at short is Polanco. If Correa goes on the IL bring Royce up then.
  8. jmlease said "Hells bells, man: literally the day before Jeffers went 2-3 with a double and home run. The last seven days (on the very page you linked) shows Jeffers was 5-16 with 3 doubles and 2 home runs. Stop cherry-picking out one bad game at the plate to try and bury a player that you seem to hate for...reasons?" I'll add that Jeffer's block of that spiked pitch the other day allowed the Twins to steal that game. Looking at all the data points to one helluva catcher. C'mon RpR ya gotta be kidding, right? Just sitting there somewhere in the middle of Minnesota chuckling while you push all our buttons ?
  9. Is Popkins a bat whisperer? Both Jeffers and Kepler were swinging inside out and going opo. That is great to see. Kepler goes one short and one full season banging his bat against a wall before making adjustments? This new approach seems like a no brainer, but whatever better late than never. Then you have Paddack saying he realized last off-season that he needed a third pitch. Huh? Hey big guy great idea! Whatever I'll take it. This FO and coaching staff took a whole lot of heat last year. Developing your talent is primary.
  10. This is a good idea. I don't think DaSmeltz plays as a reliever and while he is looking good (AKA trade value), with this pipeline he is not what I want in the rotation. I would trade him for a reliever. “I think it’s destroying the game of baseball. I had two strikeouts in my last game on it (granted strikes from the umpire), and it’s ridiculous, honestly. These are guys’ careers. It’ll never happen in the big leagues. I don’t think the union will ever allow it.” Those two batters he speaks of who got him a couple of cheap strikeouts that hurt their prospective careers had better get their assess into the box or get left behind.
  11. Joe Cool is so smooth. Always balanced as he finishes his pitches. This looks sustainable and with that pace and command, damn fun to watch.
  12. Look it I guess just wind me up like a top, but Rocco can only use the players he is provided. What is he supposed to do with that bullpen? Burn Duran out before the middle of May? Calling Rocco the worst manager in the history of the Twins is completely ridiculous.
  13. That three run dinger by La Machina's cuz had me down, but man oh man what a pick me up! Hilarious. If Larnach had played it the way some said he should and scored, that only ties it. After the HUGE misfortune of last season we are due for some karmic payback, big time. The ledger is still not balanced after the Dirty Sux and Kitties gifted us a couple. I say give me more! I felt a turning of fortune after the Sox gaffe maybe we are in store for a charmed season. Championships are usually accompanied by some luck. Just look at Rosario's break out after a miserable run for Cleveland. Let's go! P.S. No analytics or statistics were utilized in this post.
  14. What in Correa's performance this year backs up your statement? This guy is an admitted allow starter who didn't have a full camp and the results clearly back this. Then the ridiculous negative hyperbole about Rocco. C'mon man. P.S. 210-174. You may not like the style, but the numbers look good to me. Measure them against Kelly. Kelly was a good manager, but he can only manage the talent on the roster he is provided.
  15. I like Rocco Baldelli. I'm gonna guess there are 28 young men in that dugout who agree with me.
  16. Since the sky fell on Sabato last year apparently he has pushed it back up into place with no further incident. Cavaco may have given him a leg up, eh?
  17. I'm going to add that they may just be saving bullets on some of these guys since it is unlikely you'll get 180 innings out of most of them. Would be nice to have some ammo for the stretch and possible playoffs.
  18. That was the most egregious theft of victory against the Dirty Sox in the history of baseball. This is the kind of thing that can swing fortunes.
  19. Well we might just have the next Gil or Ynoa!! Don't let this gem slip through your clutching grasp Falvine!
  20. Hitler's ghost is in North Korea? ??
  21. I agree with all this except I'm not sure I do about the Gray and Petty trade . Yes I would have preferred they signed his equivalent in free agency, but that guy wouldn't have such a short, team friendly deal. If they can get 300 innings of a good later career Gray the next two years, then it makes sense. By the time we possibly see Petty in the bigs I'm guessing the FO is banking on the pipeline.
  22. Your know I watched all of Ryan's Olympic starts and all the twins starts as well. I liked him very much but wasn't sure how the fastball heavy approach would fly. Well this guy not only has moxy, but command and the ability to evolve. Very exciting. Compare this to Berrios' first year.
  23. Spring has sprung on H2oface and Mrlink45! Go twins!
  24. Now that was a good ballgame, watched on a plane coming back from Florida. Crisp, started a half hour after takeoff and finished while taxiing to the gate. More please.
