Wait, so you want him to start his career at short and then move to CF halfway in as he's aging and (theoretically) his range would start to deteriorate? Personally, think Royce's most likely move as his career goes on would be to move from SS to 3B but that's a decade plus down the road.
I'd like to see him used creatively really, I have my doubts on him as a long term starter but I'd hate to limit him to being a one inning reliever as well. I know it's cliche but an Andrew Miller role (obviously assuming he can handle the tight situations, which is a big ask) may be where he ends up in the next few years. But I'm all for experimenting with him and seeing what comes up
I suppose about the best thing of signing Duda to this deal is there really isn't any harm in it and he may surprise you a bit but I still don't totally get the logic of it.
The anti-tanking rule seems to be very much a gray area, they'd have a lot to work out with that. Otherwise, I'm on board with the rest. Absolute yes to the NL DH, the pitch clock and relievers having to face 3 batters
I don't mind the players weekend jerseys too much, they have a little league charm to them. The hats are bad, though. The new blue is horrific. I hate how much we're forcing gold into our jerseys now. I'm indifferent on the red jerseys we've worn.
Cron is probably the "safer" pick between the two while Austin is the "upside" one. I put those in quotes because Cron really isn't thatttttt safe of a bet and Austin isn't really thatttttt high of an upside guy but that seems to be how they are being pitted against each other. I think they pick Cron (I'd rather they go with Austin, personally) but you are right though in that it is really hard to see them be able to fit both onto the roster with our roster construction.
Arguably a worse decision than the choice to just sit back and not improve our bullpen. That is maybe about as bad of a jersey as I've seen and then to be replacing easily their best... pure tragedy
The criticism of us not attacking free agency is absolutely valid and I agree with you on that. It's fair to get on the front office because I am frustrated too, there's no reason for them not to be more aggressive. But I'm going to strongly argue the claim that our front office is sandbagging because Falvey used to work in Cleveland and wants them to win the division. Also, the one of us take at the end: so we need someone from here or someone from within the Twins Country Club to run the organization?
