    It's still early but I will gladly eat crow here. I was not a fan of Castro or Garver and thought catcher was going to be a tire fire throughout the year and I also thought Astudillo was a fun story but would begin to get exposed. I have been wrong. Eating crow for breakfast at the moment.

    I don't know, there's a lot of people that don't like how often Trevor May is on Twitter and the "maybe he should focus more on pitching than Fortnite" takes. They'd really hate having Stroman around if that's their way of evaluating players

    There's a vocal group of fans who think they aren't "ball guys" because they didn't spend their entire professional lives on the backfields scouting players.This is also the same group that claims they are trying to build the team through a math equation. It's a bad take but that's the group the OP is talking about

    I agree with you, maybe that wasn't clear in my original post. The joke was that the comeback to the opener seems to always come down to "that's not the way the game has always been played so obviously it can't work"

    This is the correct take. His deal proves he was a cheap experiment at bare minimum.

    Agreed, Byron should have no fear when on the bases and he should basically have a permanent green light. It concerns me that he was even a little bit afraid of losing his streak. The team should be pushing for him to steal as much as possible when he's on base, challenge the opposition.

    Totally random but they took away the strike zone on the TV last night for one pitch and it tells you how used to it I've become because I felt uncomfortable without it there.

    To your first point, I'd somewhat agree. I don't know if it is cautious or what but I also believe that he should be trying to steal second basically every time he gets on first. I realize that's hyperbolic but to me, odds are more often than not, he's going to make it there, I'm all for him having the green light and encouraging him to go for it each time he gets on first. To your second point, I wouldn't mind it but the thing is, he's so fast, he's going to score from second on just about any hit anyway. Would help obviously for sac flies to get him in and wild pitches and such but the upside for him to steal third from second probably isn't as high as it is from first to second

    I mean, the Twins' philosophy on this has been changing for a few years now, this isn't new this year or last. The irony is you could argue that the market inefficiency in the game now as far as hitting goes is what we just got away from, having the ability to just put the ball in play in an era where strikeouts are kind.
