Article: TX 8, MIN 1: Circling the Drain
D.C Twins replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Dear Twins Daily, I cannot believe that I'm on an MLB roster with like 4 people in line for demotion before me..... And apparently they have no intention of bringing up anyone from the minors anyway! (shhh, don't tell anyone but THIS-IS-AWESOME!) Super Stoked, Motter -

D.C Twins replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Dear FO, Please disregard D.C. Twins negativity.... We are so thankful for your enployment as we are quite certain that we would not have lasted this long on another MLB roster and know there are no other MLB roster spots waiting for us if our tight bond is ever to break. Forever Yours, Grossman, Wison, and Belisle aka "The Triple Threat" PS. We made up "The Triple Threat" ourselves. We think a hard core nickname may buy us a few more weeks on the MLB roster. -

…and as long as the FO is in the enlightening mood, maybe they could free me of my ignorance surrounding the advanced metrics surrounding the Belisile signing. -

I'm sure Grossman is a 'Designated' something..... I just haven't been able to figure out what.....maybe the FO can enlighten me! -
Actually a big Gonsalves fan.... but 5.5 BB/9 innings and 4.8 innings per start... yikes....might be further away from MLB than I'd like

Article: Twins Daily Roundtable: Romero's Innings
D.C Twins replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not all people/arms are the same Not all innings are the same Not all pitchers have the same mix of pitches Not all pitches stress the arm the same Ergo, innings limitations are ridiculous. Pitchers need to be followed closely for the earliest signs of fatigue (drop in velocity, change in mechanics, even small amounts of pain in the pitching elbow/shoulder, loss of control) and shut down quickly at the earliest warning signs. "sabermetrics" will catch up to this in the near future and there will be intricate algorithms to dictate these decisions .- 44 replies

"He's a high-OBP, low-power corner outfielder in the mold of Robbie Grossman" Who can play defense! Grossman is the person I most want replaced due to his woeful one-dimensional contributions (at best).- 32 replies

Article: LAA 2, MIN 1: Is This a Rerun?
D.C Twins replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The FO has done some good things and cannot control the... Injuries/etc that DO matter (Castro, Mauer, Palanco, Buxton, Sano, Santana....) They do control what to do about it. 1. Cycle some of the reliever up to get a break for some of the overused and therefore becoming more ineffective (you know who they are) 2. Bring up some of the young talent for experience and evaluation This is not rocket surgery or brain science..... but.... the first step is to admit that you have a problem- 17 replies

Dear Twins FO, I know that Gordon was one of my draft picks and perhaps not as exciting to you as some of the players that you bring in.... but you do realize that the Twins used Adrianza as a pinch "hitter" in an actual MLB game which they were presumably trying to win right?! ….A game in which 5 "hitters" had a BA that ranged from 0.192 to 0.239 and the 6th was a AAAA player that stuck out 3 times. You guys have done some good things, but....just sayin' Thinking of You, Terry Ryan

I want to be as excited as the next guy.... but I think we can all agree that 7.5BB/9 inngs average will not equate to 1.50 ERA's in many starts going forward. This is just a blip on the screen unless the control thing is figured out.

Article: A Solution for the Twins Outfield
D.C Twins replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Grossman needs to go..... no place for a one dementional (at best) "OF" on a young team trying to develop a championship core. There are just not enough bench spots for any one dementional player. yes....yes.....YES...it is time to begin the youth movement. This is only a lost season if we fail to take the opportunity to evaluate young talent in the MLB- 45 replies

Article: SEA 3, MIN 1: Worst Birthday Ever
D.C Twins replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Still seems that having Gordon up since Polanco went out would have been at least a win (gain experience) or even more likely a win/win (hit better than the alternative) As for the argument that he needs to work more on defense....yes BUT I seem to remember that there were more than a few similar threads about Polanco just 1+ year ago.... (yep, I'm going to keep bringing this up, until he's up....or until it becomes feasible to win consistently when scoring 3 or less runs a game)- 13 replies

Article: Week in Review: Crisis of Leadership
D.C Twins replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Also, I am VERY concerned that Mauer may have already played his last baseball game. When diving for a ground ball carries a risk of relapse (however small), he is likely going to take a (justified) long hard look at his future. Balance issues and sensitivity to light WAY more concerning than a refractory headaches and neck pain. Very much hope that I'm overreacting- 105 replies

Article: Week in Review: Crisis of Leadership
D.C Twins replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Washingon Nationals also have injuries.... But they chose to use it as an opportunity to bring up their young(er) talent (19 y/o)that was producing in AA (Hey Twinkies, sound familiar?) I'm not disappointed by that the Twins FO took a flyer on Lynn and the injuries are not their fault obviously. They ARE responsible for how the react to problems, and that currently leaves A LOT to be desired. Let the young talent that will be part of the next championship push start getting reps (with all due respect to Grossman, Lynn, Petit, Adrianza, and Cave, they are definitely NOT part of that future push) To Gordon, Wade (when healthy), and Gonslaves, welcome, we've been waiting. To Petit, Grossman, and Lynn, thank you for your service. It's Time- 105 replies

I'm worried about Mauer.... Any strange reports about injuries from the neck up has to raise concerns about return of his post-concussive symptoms... Man do I hope my worries are unfounded. Get Well Joe!

Esteemed FO, I hate to pile on, but you have seen Lynn pitch right?! I don't want to come off as arrogant but I'm pretty sure I can best an ERA of 7.47, WHIP of 2.04, and 4ish average innings per start. I'm ready when you are! Yours Truly, Gonsalves

Your Honor FO, We would like to present our closing arguments featuring the evidence from the last 4 hitters in todays MLB box score with current BA (OPS): Grossman: 0.231 (0.646) Buxton: 0.156 (0.397) Adrianza: 0.213 (0.535) Wilson: 0.158 (0.530) We are not experts in advanced metrics, but it seems like sustained winning will be difficult with this strategy. If only there were something else to try (wink, wink) Your Excited Prospects, Gordon and Wade

Article: May Day is Coming for the Twins
D.C Twins replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It was a mistake putting him in the pen the first time and it would be an even bigger mistake this time. Solid starters are hard to come by (just ask Lynn if you don't believe me)....bullpen arms can be acquired an/or signed much easier. If May is sharp and the FO is concerned that they will aspirate on the sunk money to Hughes and Lynn, then he should START in AAA until someone comes to their senses. If a chain needs to be yanked, yank the flailing veteran on a one year contract, not the chain of someone that could be part of a long term winning team- 78 replies
