Post Draft: Who's the Twins' Top Pitching Prospect?
Game7-91 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Honestly, as I read through this excellent compilation, it was a tad disheartening. Injuries, threat of injury, underperformance, and promotion of several others last 2 yrs have really thinned out the prospect pool. Hoping Canterino can stay healthy for a good long stretch, if he needs to go to BP so be it. Seems like the one closest to being ML ready.- 31 replies

Get to Know Twins Draft Pick Cory Lewis
Game7-91 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
General comment just to say thanks to Ted and TD staff for these reports and interviews. Great material and nuggets....we have a knuckleballer!.....when players are more often than not de-personalized as "arms" or "bats" this type of content is a great way to offer balance and background on these guys. So thanks for doing it, and keep up the good work.- 4 replies

It Don't Sano in July
Game7-91 commented on Dave The Dastardly's blog entry in Dave The Dastardly's Blog
Like it or not, this is reality. He has no trade value. He will be in the lineup to the bitter end. It's basically a contract year for him, in the next two months we all get to see how dedicated he is to extending his big league career, or not. -
Oh and eighteen pushes back against the notion that the playoff outcomes are random chance events. That said, getting there is the first step of many, so yeah, agree with others here, Twins should not/will not be passive. Question is how much future projection are they willing to sacrifice for immediate gain in 2022? And how do potential sellers view the Twins' prospect potential? It would be great to see other teams boards rating Twins Milb ratings. How do their ratings match up with their projected future needs/wants? If the stars align in some unforeseen way maybe we make the move for Castillo or Montas. The liklier outcome would seem to be lesser BP depth, but it wouldnt be a shock to see them make a serious run at one of the big boy SP's, and drop existing rotation guys into BP. There's lots of different ways this can play out, and that is what makes this deadline so interesting. I hope the trades will start sooner than later. Love this image, never heard it B4, thanks Dasterdly Dave, I have a new toy to throw around now!

Trade Rumor: Twins still linked to Frankie Montas
Game7-91 replied to Otto von Ballpark's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
That's a fair question. Guess we will find out in 2 weeks if any sellers project Twins pitching prospects in the way we do. Speculating here, but the most asked abt player from Twins, for Castillo or Montas, would be AK, after that maybe CES, Wallner, Steer. Just cant see Cin or Oak demanding any of our pit hing pipeline other than as 3rd or 4th pieces. They will want AK and move on when told no. -
Realistic analysis Nick, and looking forward to TD trade deadline content. Agree with others here, we have vets underperforming in batting order, one more batter is not going to change that. Their investing a lot for CC and Buck to produce, they shouldnt need more otside help. But this is a conundrum on the pitching side. Given the weakness of ALC, the FO will have to do something to try to improve both SP and BP. At the same time, doing it without giving up milb guys they project onto MLB next year,....Tall order. Do you justify moving some combo of Wallner/Steer /SWR/ Martin/Cantorino/Festa/Miller/CES.....it will be painful to get Castillo or Montas, so the circle comes back to all-in type trade, middling-maybe type, or out completely in 2022? With their history, Twins probably try the middle way, look to score on an undervalued SP and BP guy, and let the chips fall. All this has me thinking abt the current dividional alignments in relation to the expanded playoff field, The question is live in large part because of the weak competition in ALC....feeling a different thread topic coming here. But it feels like the impending trades are as much a matter of curcumstance as planning.

Batter up: Pitcher or batter? I dont care, just want somebody good enough to impact ML roster in 2 yrs

But it would be funny

Now that is bold! Bordering on reckless Chief, a disposition of which you are well noted for on TD?

Likin' Lee!

Any bets on who the good guys take?

Well, this is interesting.... Expect the unexpected at #8?

Totally agree. Do either of the 1st two picks shave yet?

"I heard he might start every inning with an intentional walk on Saturday,” said an MLB source. “It’s unorthodox to be sure, but he says that it sets up the double play every time. That’s just facts. He’s a Hall of Famer.”eard he might start every inning with an intentional walk on Saturday,” said an MLB source. “It’s unorthodox to be sure, but he says that it sets up the double play every time. That’s just facts. He’s a Hall of Famer.” Brilliant, my sides are hurting. Have to admit though this is the kind of forward-thinking, out-of-the-box strategy that moves from quirky, to fad, to mainstream so quickly.........

2018 Twins Trade Deadline Review: Long-Term Impact
Game7-91 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Twins gained some guys who might help. But I sure wish we could be the kind of org that decides to extend the guys who prove they can play and produce, i. e. Pressly, rather than kicking that can down the road with prospects who are 3 yrs away. Pressly has anchored a WS and pennant winning BP since the trade. We're still projecting prospects. Jury is still out, but that trade is not close to even in results. Reality is some guys are going to get paid market rate. Time for Twins to reap the benefits of those hard spent developmental $$$ and pay up when its time to solidify positions like back end BP talent. One wonders what our record might be with Mr Pressly snd Rogers tag teaming this season.- 9 replies

I'm looking forward to the break this week. Admittedly I pay no attention to the ASG, but am very happy Buck and Arraez have well deserved honors this year. The next 10 weeks will be interesting. Central feels like a default division this year, Twins seem clearly the best of the bunch, but that in itself is not a lot of bragging rights. CWS have had injuries, but also just not a good team, probably most disappointing compared to expectations in MLB. Not expecting much to change with them. Detroit too just a dud season. If Twins can stay mostly healthy no reason why they should not be in 1st at the end. Looking ahead to October: AL Central vs AL west/east in playoffs since 2017: 3 wins, 17 losses. ALC vs E or W in AL playoffs 2010-2016: 34 wins, 23 losses. We need the pendulum to start swinging back to the midwest, here's hoping 2022 will be so?

Jamie, thanks for the time and effort putting this together. Love the concept. Not sure what to add beyond what you are doing. Comparing H/L ratings is very cool, unbelievable variances throughout. Imagining that will be less so closer we get to top 10. But makes one wonder what the actual draft boards look like in MLB draft rooms. Eye opening. Couple things caught my eye: 1. Twins should nab a high ceiling catcher in 1st or 2nd round. 2. Pitchers are eating Jack the Beanstalk beans or something.....lots of lanky hurlers. 3. Surprised change-ups are not part of more reportoires. Not sure why, I just assumed a change was standard to high prospect checklist. Those without would seem to have longer developmental time in MiLB, so wonder if lack of that pitch adversely impacts draft order. Love the content, look forward to seeing top 26!

2022 Twins 10-round Mock Draft
Game7-91 replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Thanks Jeremy, youve done the homework and have an impressive history of correct picks, great stuff. I know nothing, zero/zilch about the propsed picks here, I just hope your emphasis on loading up on pitchers will actually happen. If they can find some lefties even better. Law of averages says a couple of these guys will have positive impact in MLB someday. Hope it is with the Twins. -

Sod Poodles? WT? They need a new name. And I thought Wind Surge was goofy. Just cut to the chase, rename the team the Wichita Flatus. Team motto: "Blowin' 'em away." Team Mascot: "Wee Willy Windy," shaped like the Pillsbury Dough Boy, except poke his belly and something comes back besides cute giggles. 40' mechanical Wee Willy atop the scoreboard, who bends over to produce a fusillade of fireworks from the back side with each home team HR. Accompanied by finale to 1812 Overture for grand sslams.Draw big crowds with Pull My Finger promotional Tuesdays, giving tooting Wee Willy bobbleheads, Wee Willy air horns, and free hot dogs to the kids. And everyone who comes to the park can make fun of the Amarillo Sod Poodles, who would still have the worst name of a pro sports team even while sharing a field with the Wichita Flatus. And the play by play guy really shouldnt plagairize Gordo's patended HR call.Too close to Game 6 - 91 HR call, which is a national treasure. No imitations allowed.

Twins Tidbit: Assessing the In-House Bullpen Options
Game7-91 replied to TwinsData's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Agreed, his name is Taylor Rogers, for whatever reason, we did not feel the urgency to spend and extend his contract, or, if not extending, let him pitch his final year here, because we were going to contend this year, right?, and gee whiz, wouldnt it be great to have elite-level back-end guy on an expiring contract with all the motivation that comes with it anchoring the 9th along with Duran. But NNOOOO, we didnt need him...lets get a guy on the cusp of TJ#2 and a DFA quality guy to lose some games at the back end of the pen. Sheesh . Now we will pay that cost in prospects, and hope we land someone who can approximate Rogers' production and value. Whiplash-syndrome in a big way. I just hope FO can next year figure what direction they're going and make a friggin' plan. Thanks, I feel better now.- 14 replies

Nick Gordon Is Quietly Filling the Royce Lewis Void
Game7-91 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Great discussion, agree with Nick the comps between the 2 are amazing and unexpected. Gordon is our utility guy for the forseesble future- he'd proving his value is in versatility and productivity every day. Since rosters expanded players with his profile are much more valuable, and I am really happy he's on the good guys team. -
Week in Review: Late Inning Fireworks
Game7-91 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It's the second straight year in which Baldelli – who managed outstanding bullpens in his first two division-winning seasons – has been sabotaged by his front office on the relief front. Sums it up perfectly Nick. Waiting 4 more weeks is not an option. Also agree White Sox are the looming threat. FO needs to act soon.- 9 replies
