  1. The head line seems misleading "Sources say at least one other NFL team has wanted to add Kaepernick to its roster, but the move was blocked by the team's owner." "We are going through a process, and we have not made a decision," the statement said. "Steve Bisciotti has not told us we cannot sign Colin Kaepernick, nor has he blocked the move. Whoever is making those claims is wrong." I haven't heard anybody else get cut or not signed because they didn't stand for the anthem?
  2. I have to disagree with this, he would be on somebody's roster if they thought he would help them win. The problem with him is he is a back up quarterback at this time and no team wants to have the news about their backup quarterback. There a bunch of players doing exactly what he did minus the pig socks and communist T-shirt and have jobs and the teams are backing them up.
  3. It isn't about racism or the rich ruling over anybody. How many of us would be fired if we if we decided to protest on our companies dime? I am all for him protesting and standing up for whatever he believes. It might be best to stay away from wearing communist t-shirts while doing so.
  4. I assume he was saying people wanted him traded for pitching prospects?
  5. He is 4 months older than our minor league hitter of the year and put up better numbers. I get he is AAAA player.
  6. Sorry I didn't mean to infer anything other than he had another great year in the MINORS and still would be considered one of our better minor league prospects.
  7. Did you see the year Arcia had? https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=arcia-001osw
  8. The problem with letting him go is that if he goes someplace else and ends up being the exact pitcher we need;then we have to go out and pay for that with prospects or Money. The problem wit keeping him is I think the 40 man roster is going to be pretty full next year (I don't claim to be an expect on this at all). So I think the front office keeps him, because he will be cheap. And they look at trading some of the depth in the minors and maybe someone from the majors (Dozier, Polanco, OFer?) to get that top tier pitcher (I don't see that pitcher in free agency) If he fails at the beginning of the year like he did this year, he can be replaced by Gonzo, Sledgers, May, etc.. The front office has to some how get a top pitcher, don't they? Maybe try the Mets for one of their pitchers not named Harvey, they seem to be lacking depth?
  9. I like that plan, Gibson and Mejia will have to pitch well just to stay in the rotation because hopefully those guys in AAA will be pushing real hard. (and if Gibson starts next year like he did this year, I would cut him)
  10. Ground Balls, I assume you mean Mays or Silva?
  11. I am way more excited/hopeful about the pitching prospects than hitters.
  12. Only one of them made it for more than a few years as a top QB (the lightest)
  13. So he ended up with 74 in 6 with no runs. I am not arguing Gibson is something more than he is, I am just saying since his May 28th start he has been a fairly reliable number 4 or 5 starter and has lowered his ERA almost 3 runs. Yes those first 7 starts count and he was terrible in those. But since then he has been giving the team a chance to win, hence the 12 - 7 record in his start. (and yes I realize when your teams scores 20, 17, and 16 runs that helps)
  14. are you saying Kluber, Bauer and Carrasco are number 4 or 5 starters? I will give you Tonlin and Clevinger
  15. You can say that about 90% of all pitchers failing to live up to expectations, sometimes they are who they are. Moliter has made some weird decisions with him all year, there was a stretch were he took him out as soon as a guy got on base after the 4th. Not saying he didn't deserve not to be trusted but how many pitchers pitch well knowing after the 4th they have to pitch no hit, not walk ball the rest of the way? Name one pitcher that is a 4/5 for a team having a better second half then Gibson. He is 75th in innings pitched this year in the majors. I say good luck to finding a starter to replace him for 5 million, unless it is a rookie and lets be honest when was the last rookie that was consistent on the Twins?
  16. I am not sure how Gibson is to blame that the twins only have 2 pitchers better than him. Gibson hasn't been pitching well for the last few weeks, he has been pitching well since the end of May (which is the last few months, not weeks) I don't think anybody has said invest in him long term, but he is only 30 and right now there aren't too many free agents to be that I want to spend big money on. I wouldn't pencil him in for the 2018 rotation either, but while he is inconsistent at times I rather him in the 5th spot then any one of are minor league prospects at least starting 18.
  17. If I did my math correct, since May 28th, Gibson's ERA is 4.29 in 18 starts. 1 game with 7 runs allowed 1 game with 6 runs allowed 1 game with 4 runs allowed 6 games with 3 runs allowed 5 games with 2 runs allowed 3 games with 1 runs allowed 1 game with 0 runs allowed I will take that from my 5th starter every year.
  18. If I was going to extend him, it would be right up to when Buxton and the crew are coming due, I wouldn't want his contract to be the reason we can't sign them. I think Mauer will re-sign with something around 3/30 to finish he career here. I think if the Twins are in it again next year, I don't believe money should stop them from signing a pitcher, the fans just won't have it.
  19. What I am seeing from these pitchers is that all but a couple average about 5 innings per start, what is the main reason for that?
  20. Not trying to argue but are teams really better today? How many trades haven't happened because a team wouldn't trade prospects and those prospects never did anything? I would argue both the Revere and Span trades are proof that trading prospects don't always come back to haunt you. For the most part we got less than zero from Meyers and so far not much from May.
  21. You kind of proved my point, Verlander is still really good, others are saying he is too old and not good enough to pay or trade prospects for. Any team that won't trade a guy to a team in the same division isn't saying he is washed up or no good, they are saying we are in rebuilding and can't spend that much money on one player or this is our best chance for prospects. (Those are the pitchers the twins need now) I brought Mauer up indirectly because the last few years it would have been foolish to not trade him to a division team, with his contract and declining skills it would have been in the Twins best interest to straddle a division team with him and that contract. Finally good luck getting a pitcher regardless of age that will produce what Verlander produces the next two years for any price.
  22. I don't understand that thinking at all. Lets say we had a 23 million dollar first baseman that is way over paid and everybody thinks said first baseman is rapidly declining. Wouldn't the best thing to do is trade that first basemen in the division, thus weakening the division team going forward? I also find it interesting that a 75% Verlander might be the absolute ceiling for all but one or two of our minor league pitchers and we/some (TD) aren't interested?
  23. A source said that minor league pitcher Grayson Long will be going to Detroit in the trade. Long, a former third-round pick, went 8-6 with a 2.52 ERA in 23 starts with the Angels' Double-A Mobile farm club this season. Quoted from ESPN
  24. All it says to me is that he probably shouldn't be thought of as a piece of the major league club until 2019. Not sure how a 21 year old would wear down in AA and not have the same issue the next year in the majors.
  25. I think it has been proven over and over and over, there is no such thing as too many mouths to feed with starting pitches. Off the top of my head and a quick search I couldn't find a find that just had too many good starters that they had guys rotting away in the minors. Beyond Berrios and Santana there is ZERO proof that anybody else of the roster or minors will do as good as Gibson. With that said I would love to see them add a couple of starting pitchers to push all of these guys to perform better.
