  1. I have to disagree, what has Granite done to be hitting lead off in the majors? Hit AAA pitching? Plus having Polanco, Castro and Granite hitting in a row, is almost a guarantee of three outs in a row.
  2. As I said "Currently we have a hitting holes in CF, SS and C" And for most of the year we have had a hole at C, SS and CF and adding another at 2B, is half of the lineup. Of the names you listed I don't see any that have proven they deserve to be a full-time starter, I see a bunch of utility guys and a fingers crossed (Gordon) that he ever becomes a fulltime player. With that being said if Dozier and parts could bring back a top end starter I would do it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the people on the board begging for trade for a middle infielder next year.
  3. I agree, I was just saying he is basically the same player as last year in about the same amount of at bats. I don't think he is our future anything, except utility player.
  4. He is basically the same hitter as last year, minus 1 single every 4 games (17 less singles).
  5. You are not really suggesting we trade Dozier for relief pitchers are you? Currently we have a hitting holes in CF, SS and C and you want to trade our starting 2B for relief pitching? Creating another hole in the lineup with nobody to replace him? I agree with need relief pitching but I strongly disagree with this approach.
  6. I am pretty sure I have been reading (on this site) he was going to be an all star 2nd baseman on the 2020 world champion MN Twins. The last regime thought so much of him they pissed though all his options and now this regime kind of has their hands tied with him. Keep playing him and hope this is just a bad streak, make him a utility player (which is what I believed he always was), or move him and hope it doesn't come back to haunt them.
  7. if this happens we all buy lottery tickets.
  8. 0, I think it will be a rainout
  9. Those including May in the 2018 plans are crazy, what has he ever done to prove he belongs in that conversation? I sure hope when he comes back he pushes the other starters but that is crazy talk. You have Santana, Berrios, Meija. That looks like we are too short, but if you go out and find one starting pitcher, you can have Gibson, May and others for the 5th spot. Basically start over in the bullpen though.
  10. Having Hughes up means Busentiz is not. Paying Hughes not to pitch or paying him to pitch at the expense of this year and the future because others are not getting experience doesn't seem like much of a decision to me. Maybe somebody could drop a bat on his foot breaking a toe nail and we could put him on the 60 DL, and give him one more chance next spring. (that is the best option in my opinion)
  11. Without knowing Cahil's contract I would take him, he is only 29 and seems like a guy that could break out for a few years.
  12. I agree with others, time for him to go, he offers nothing to this team in the short term or long term.
  13. If Molitor would have taken him out after the 6th which would have been the correct decision since he was at 96 pitches and there was little to no chance he was going to finish the 7th. He isn't very good, but he is a decent enough 5th starter for the time being.
  14. It does seem Molitor sets Gibson up to fail, and Gibson doesn't need any more help on that. Gibson has 96 pitches at the end of the 6th, that is pretty much where he has pulled him all year regardless of situation and for some reason Sunday was the day he was going to let him go out another inning? against the best hitting team in the league with the Twins C defense behind him?
  15. I say to agree with those that are saying Gonzo/Romero/May should not be counted on really for anything and if they do something it will just be gravy. Santana, Berrios, Meija should be fine. I still have a little faith in Gibson if all we expect out of a 5th starter is 5 or 6 decent innings (which he has done for 11 of 16 starts) We figure out how to get somebody to fit into the top 3. And HOPE one of these three Gonzo/Romero/May take over for Gibson if he can't be counted on for the 5 or 6 innings. IMO
  16. Wainwright is getting old and the Cards will need a former twins pitcher to take over (think Loshe), we trade the Gibson, Granite, Gordon for Reyes (is that over valuing our guys or what?)
  17. I could maybe agree with you if we had another stud outfielder real close, but we don't and please don't say Granite. But as long as Buxton plays defense like his is I am giving him another 1 1/2 year (1500 at bats) before I think about moving him. (not 682)
  18. I think you mean 3-5 quality prospects, because as of now none are quality big leaguers and the odds are only 1 or 2 of them is going to turn into a quality big leaguer.
  19. What would it take to get Jeff Samardzija and his 58+ million for the next 3 plus years I wouldn't think much for San Fran to get out of the contract. He is a hair younger than Santana and locked up though 2020 (age 35). (Maybe Jorge?)
  20. Well since some think every prospect we have is un-touchable they obviously think we are going hit 100% on all them. And they will hit in the next year in half so they are ready before our majors leaguers are free agents. To get a 1 or 2, I would trade Gordon, Gonzo or Romero, plus a AA relief pitcher and another A ball player and anybody in triple A that is on the 40 man so we can free up a spot.
  21. I think people are calling Steward a bust because he was drafted 4 years ago and is no where near the majors and has been passed on the Twins prospect list by many others. (and for a high pick can't seem to strike out anybody) I also believe most hope he eventually figures something out and makes a contribution to the big league team. As for Jay I think most were disappointed by the pick of a college relief pitcher that high and are not surprised he didn't covert well to a starter and if you take a college relief pitcher that high it shouldn't take long for him to be up on the big league team, but again that's just my opinion.
  22. After reading some of the comments, it looks like most want to trade and give away 2017 and 2018. Players people are talking about trading, Dozier, Santana, Buxton, Rosario, Grossman. Leaving a lineup next year of c - castro 1b- Mauer 2b - Polanco ss - Gordon (0 big league at bats) 3b - Sano lf - ? cf - Granite (4 big league at bats) rf - Kepler DH - Vargas SP - Berrios SP - Meija SP - Gibson SP - ? SP - ? So unless those trades bring immediate big league help, we go into next year much worse off than this year and looking at FA to fill holes and little to no depth again in starting pitchers. We already have a pretty crowded 40 man roster. I could see trading Santana if our big 2 minor league pitchers were already here and showing signs of a good future but right now they are just wildcards. IMO if someone is willing to over pay we trade, and we try trading a few of prospects for close to ready or already in the majors starting pitchers. Think about this how many of our top 12 or so prospects are going to have even a decent major league career, the odds say very few.
  23. Zach Granite minor league stats (over 1500 at bats) OBP is .359 and he going to have it at or over .400 in the majors? Man I sure hope so, but that might be aiming a bit high. Keplers was .363 in the minors and is sitting at .320 in the majors, Rosario's was .340 and is at .300 in the majors, but were considered much better prospects, but like I said I hope you are right.
  24. I would gladly trade two minor league relief pitchers (or a future 4th or 5th starter, example Stewart) for a proven better than average major league relief pitcher with a few years of control. My thought is that Hand on the Twins gives us 2+ years of a proven relief pitcher compared to a couple of mid 20s minor leagues. IMO
  25. I have to ask, if you believe Granite has more upside than Rosario (who is almost exactly 1 year older) why has Rosario been in the big league part of 3 years and Granite has spent only a few months in AAA? Rosario has a higher career OPS in the majors than Granite has in the minors? This is coming from a guy that doesn't think Rosario is much more than a 4th outfielder (hoping I am wrong) I love reading the comments on this site, but man do people have the back up QB syndrome.
