  1. I wouldn't trade anybody in our top 10 prospects Lewis, Gordon, Gonsalves, Kirilloff, Romero, Jay, Jorge, Diaz) for Hand or a every day major leader for a relief pitcher. I agree Granite is deserving of a promotion. But in no way do I believe a minor leaguer with ZERO major league at bats wouldn't be a downgrade to a guy with over a 1000 at bats with a .750 OPS in the short run. I would be willing to trade one or two for the next group of players for Hand.
  2. I would assume so, but why way over pay so you upgrade your bullpen and make your offense weaker? How about Granite for Hand? I don't see anybody in out top 10 that I would trade for Hand.
  3. I am all for bringing up 1 of those 3. Erv, Berrios, Meija, Gibson, and one of those 3 would be good. I have not been on the Gibson bandwagon, but since June he has an ERA of 4.17 and has pitched into at least the 5 every gam and it all but 1 the 6th. It does seem Paul has him on a short leash after the 5th it one guy gets on he yanks him. I would love to see him attempt to get the last out in the inning 4 of 7 starts have ended in 2/3 of a inning.
  4. Buxton has more skills than GoGo or Hicks and look how that turned out? There are very few pitchers in the whole major leagues I would trade for Buxton even straight up.
  5. Why do you need to keep Park (not even on the 40 man) or Vargas? Between Mauer and Sano that position should be fine, and try Grossman or Kepler there.
  6. Then Garver isn't a prospect and the we shouldn't think of him as a solution to any need.
  7. The comebacker was terrible luck and then Gibson went to first instead of third. Our bullpen usage is terrible, why pull Gibson after the homer, let him finish the damn inning. It seems like Paul is looking to pull our starters out as fast as he can. If Gibson isn't mentally strong enough or is unable to get the final out in the 6th, cut him. he only had 88 pitches at that point. It seems that our starters know that after the 5th they better not give up another hit or they are out of the game.
  8. I said a few weeks ago they should have thanked Belisle and left his arse in San Fran. I stand by that!
  9. Mike, you always have good points. Imagine if Stewart and Jay were 80% of what they were hoping for, then we have 4 big time pitchers in our top 5 with Gordon, and Lewis isn't even in the top 5 imo. and the twins are sitting in a great position to do something this year.
  10. I like Wade, but I think his future with the Twins is in the outfield (LF). And By 2019 Garver will be 28 and hasn't yet played 1 game in the majors. Like I said before I am not a huge Mauer fan but unless things change that is what I see (I hope things change)
  11. If the twins let Belisle fly home on the team plane that was a mistake. They should have cut him after the game, and said we have and will pay you quite a bit a money. Good Luck There is no reason to have a 37 pitcher with an ERA of 8.59 on this or any team.
  12. Like I said I am not a huge Mauer fan, but I have ZERO faith in Vargas, Park or Palka. Two of the last three years Joe has been a 2 WAR player , playing 120 and 134 games and is on that pace again this year. Would I like a better situation, absolutely but I don't see it anywhere on the team or minor leagues at this point. Plus the average MLB salary is 4.47, so 7 isn't really that much considering.
  13. First because it isn't my money. Second because that seems about the price of somebody that averages around 2 WAR.
  14. Good Stuff thanks (and I forgot they moved Jay to the bullpen), if we could get him 2021, then I would be willing to give up Polanco, Rosario, and one of our top two starting pitcher prospects and another high upside guy.
  15. I am not a huge fan of Mauer, but unless Sano moves to 1B, the twins best 1B prospect in in A ball this year. And Kennys is terrible he has a few good streaks but he in no way should be considered part of the future. So unless something happens at that position I see the Twins offering Joe a 3 year contract for around 20 million and he probably would take it to be a part time 1B and DH. IMO
  16. We seem to have pretty good depth at the middle of the infield. (Dozier, Polanco, Escobar and Adrianza) with Gordon on the way. Tampa just lost Kiermaier and have Brad Miller and Tim Beckham at SS and 2B. How about we offer them Polanco, Jay, and another minor leaguer or two for Chris Archer. This is without doing any research on Archer's contract situation or what they have for prospects at SS and 2B.
  17. At this point we have two starters I would trust Santana and Berrios, so we are short one. I am good with Duffey, Rogers, Kintzler and maybe Chargois/Hildenberger or any of the stud pitchers we have in AA could be those arms in the bullpen? Baseball offers no guarantees so I think you have to take advantage when things are going your way, next year of the year after we could be hit by injuries then what? are we shutting down trading away people for the next opportunity?
  18. I here what you are saying, but if the Twins were 32 -22 instead of 29-25, would you trade Romero or Gonsalves for Santana? In all reality would you trade Turley or Jorge?
  19. Why can't they make a deep run? I understand they are short a starting pitcher and probably 3 relief pitchers. Besides Rosario there isn't a hitter doing worse than expected and you could say most are right on or above expected. To make a deep run it only takes getting to the playoffs and having 3 good starters and a few shut down arms in the bullpen and a few breaks. Why give up this year when we have been very healthy and take a chance on a year in the future that never guarantees health?
  20. Isn't that the Twins right now? We are exactly 1/3 of the way though the season 4 games above .500 in first place and short at least 1 starting pitcher (maybe 3). The Astros are 13 games up in their Division I don't think they will be giving up a top prospect at this point. (but I would really think about trading Santana for David Paulino plus.
  21. Would another team really trade a pitcher that is basically ready to start in the majors this year for Santana unless that pitcher has no real upside? Would you trade Santana for Mejia while we are still in playoff contention? Obviously you listen to everybody that has interest, but I can't see getting the prospects people are taking about. IMO
  22. They way I see it, we don't have the minor leaguers to get a top "end" of the rotation starter without cleaning out most of our top prospects and Dozier isn't going to get that return either. So we either look to at Buxton or Kepler to get that return. (I wouldn't trade Buxton and Kepler would have to return somebody that has at least a few years of control left) or we look to trade a little lower prospects for a little older starting pitcher that front office thinks can turn it around (something like Y. Gallardo) or we stand pat and pay a larger price towards the deadline if we are still in in. Minor league relievers aren't going to get us anything in return and that seems to be what we have the most of.
  23. The real issue I see with trading is there are only a couple of teams that I think would be willing to deal the type of pitcher we are looking for (late 20's early 30's), Phillies, marlins, and padres. And they don't really have anybody that I would be interested in giving up any of our prospects for.
  24. So if Dozier heats up you put him on the market even if we are winning and he is part of the reason? I could go along with if our pitching falls apart and we are losing and he heats up we trade him for sure. But if we are in first or close to first and he heats up I ride him. I also don't believe we have a positional excess at this point.
  25. Using those stats are very good at predicting what may be to come or even that a pitcher was a bit lucky or unlucky, but after the game has been played, what matters is the outcome. Those numbers suggest his ERA is going to go up (which I agree with). But as of today he has started 8 games, pitched 54 innings, given up 23 hits, and walked 21 with an ERA of 1.5 (and hasn't given up an unearned run).
