  1. Frankie Montas is getting 14M per for two years. I don't think you are noticing how much bad players cost these days. The Twins aren't going to improve the roster with the 5M and they certainly won't with 12.5M minus Paddack.
  2. Sure, but any MLB player only getting 5M is also a non MLB-caliber starter. And he wouldn't have options.
  3. Wow, the Lions are losing coach after coach after coach. They still have a ton of player talent, but talented players don't always lead to an equitable record if your missing the proper leadership. I'm predicting that next year the Lions are going to be the Bengals. Super stars putting up awesome numbers everywhere but too aimless to do make it amount to anything.
  4. Six months interest on 5M dollars? Now you're talking their language.
  5. There is not a 5M free agent I want. I'd rather the Pohlad's just tip that amount to their server at Modist Brewing after their farewell party after the sale of the team.
  6. No, he's not on this roster. Matt Wallner might rack up 40 HR and 100 RBI if he played 150 games, But there is zero amount of performance he could demonstrate to let Rocco Baldelli let him play 150 games. Doesn't matter, he's a lefty, he's going to get platooned and pinch hit for.
  7. Well if the Twins are platooning 66%-77% of their batting order, what does it matter if one guy is getting 100 RBI or two or more guys are getting it combined? It's the same ratio. Not an argument for platooning, just an argument against counting stats.
  8. Right, pitchers don't fear slap hitters any more than they fear giving up a walk. Minor nuisance, not game-ending fear, unless it's one of the three times all year that it's the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded.
  9. So Justin Tucker is accused of pulling some Deshaun Watson moves: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/justin-tucker-calls-allegations-of-inappropriate-behavior-unequivocally-false Terrible stuff to hear for sure, but I just couldn't help but laugh at this part: “It is no surprise that the paper’s interactions with me were marked by journalistic failures at every turn. When I first learned that the newspaper was writing this article, they refused to reveal the full claims they were planning to make against me. It wasn’t until I was forced to hire the leading defamation law firm in the U.S. to write to the paper that they finally revealed what they were planning on writing. Then, when they did finally provide some of this information, they gave me next to no time to provide a response. It is clear why — they had no interest in what I (or anyone else) had to say. What the hell?!?!? Is this law firm more concerned with defending their client or advertising their services? This level of self-serving propaganda is bonkers!
  10. Ken Dorsey was fired by the Bills last year and the Browns this year. The Cowboys are interviewing him for 2025 though. LOL.
  11. This is an old complaint that people won't drop for some reason. Three true outcome hitters hasn't been the Twins philosophy in two years. They were 9th in the league in K% last year. In fact, the Twins like clockwork seem to change their offensive philosophy every two or three years to adjust to present issues. It doesn't always work out, but they aren't rigidly stubborn about doing most things a specific way any longer. The one thing Jenkins MUST do is be able to hit left handed pitching, because the one thing we know the manager IS stubbornly rigid about is platooning young lefties.
  12. Moore has really spun some magic this year though. Saquon Barkley was a bum before he got to Philly, and Moore invented the tush push I believe. And all behind that god awful offensive line too. Jalen Hurts also very nearly threw for 3000 yards, which my 1958 Sports Almanac indicates would have been a record!
  13. Kliff Kingsbury is declining the Saints offer to interview for the HC job. So did Joe Brady, and Aaron Glenn declined to take the !Jets! job. Most probably wouldn't have pegged the Saints as the most un-wanted job, but I dig it. Screw the Saints.
  14. Unless the sale is closer than we think and Falvey is already taking orders from a new boss, please, please don't get creative. Just put on your seatbelt, brace for the turbulence, grab the barf bags and then put this thing down in one piece. 'Getting creative' seems like the fastest way to land in the ocean since we don't have the slightest idea which direction we are ultimately heading.
  15. It looks like Sneed and Burns both got the exclusive tag and then their teams traded them. This link explains the different tags and toward the bottom it shows who go the exclusive tags and who go the non-exclusive tags (just one guy, Kyle Duggar) https://operations.nfl.com/updates/the-players/2024-franchise-and-transition-players-named/ But that makes sense, because the Giants and the Titans were willing to pay Burns and Sneed the franchise tender amount, but in the end just negotiated a long term deal instead. So the Vikings might be able to find a trade partner who doesn't want to pay him 41M, but is willing to negotiate a long term deal, but will they be able to get Darnold to play ball? He probably shouldn't play ball and refuse to negotiate with the team of the Vikings choice, because if the Vikings are forced to let him walk free, he can negotiate with any team, picking his own destination and likely getting more money. I think the transition tag is the same thing as the non-exclusive tag.
  16. That would be great, but I'm pretty sure the team signing the non-exlcusive tagged player has to give up two 1st round picks. If a team is willing to give up two 1sts for Darnold the Vikings would be like Scrooge McDuck diving into their silo of coins. Ah, all the dreams we had prior to Week 18.......
  17. Not a bad defense. Which if legit would probably mean this person would come out and explain this. This is almost certainly a jaded voter who's pissed that HIS Mike Schmidt or Derek Jeter or Greg Maddox didn't get in unanimously so he damn well would make sure that Ichiro didn't.
  18. I can promise my computer has zero cookies for dry January. That was a very passive aggressive ad.
  19. Well, that comes with being a fan of Minnesota pro teams.
  20. Um, what is this targeted ad trying to say?
  21. But that means you'd have to trade the equivalent of that draft pick at minium to get him. I don't want to do that.
  22. Sorry, but where does he play? 1B? DH? For as fun as his singles are, his .739 OPS was worse than Miranda's .763 last year. Like today's game or not, Miranda is a better offensive option, and nobody on this board seems excited about him.
  23. I agree, but KC is now the most hated team in the league. I know everyone is talking about the games being rigged, but I'm not sure what motivation the NFL actually has in helping them win. EVERYONE wants Buffalo to win, and if everyone is tired of KC, Buffalo will draw better ratings.
  24. I don't think I want Arraez back though. I know the BA is nice, but it's really hallow; only singles and he's not even drawing many walks anymore. I'm not giving up extra for him.
