    As excited as I am for McCarthy, I think in year one his target distribution is going to be too small to maximize the productivity of a ton of weapons. And then you'll have Hill and Addison publicly whining about not getting targeted enough. If McCarthy looks good this year though, I'd definitely go that route in year 2. Or even use another top pick on another stud WR.

    These high contact guys hardly ever flame out league-wide; tons don't have a high ceiling, but most have a reasonable floor. Teaching a guy when NOT to swing has to be so much easier than teaching a guy how to make contact. I really think a lot of this is a Twins-specific instructional and educational issue at the MLB level.

    I've never heard of that. It would fit with how deep they are into the red in 2026 though.

    I imagine Nailor is going to be ahead of anyone they trade for. It's likely going to be a roster bubble player. But what I'm seeing is the Vikings have 26M in salary cap space. Next year they are in trouble but a 1-year deal of any kind shouldn't impact that.

Adam Theilen is the only one who makes sense, not because I'd like a reunion, but there's not enough time for a new guy to get up to speed. Everyone knew Addison was going to be suspended, if they were going to bring someone in, why didn't they sign Amari Cooper or Gabe Davis or someone two months ago?

    Why is Wallner batting 9th? Yeah we get it, the horror of a left handed hitter facing a left handed pitcher! NOOOOOOOOOOO! But Larnach is batting 3rd and Wallner actually has reverse splits this year.

    I had Abel in mind, but both have made more MLB starts than Ryan ever did. If I was to try to rationalize all of the Twins illogical behavior, I'm not sure this makes the top ten list.

    We were all clamoring to see Joe Ryan immediately after the Nelson Cruz trade. Whatever their reasons were, they waited until September 1st to call him up. Since that worked out for them (when not much else has) my money is on them waiting another 12 days.

    Agree, I've also thought Baldelli historically got more flack than he deserved, but not only is it time for a change, I don't think he's a fit here any longer. If a low payroll team has to pay free agents based on the 'culture' they bring to the team instead of their actual play on the field, you are not going to field a good team. Your organization needs the 'culture' to be emanating from the manager and coaches. Baldelli would probably be just fine on a team with lots of GOOD veteran players; that's not this team.

    The A's aren't winning many games, but it's hard not to be jealous about how many of their young hitters are, you know, hitting. I'm guessing they don't fire Mark Kotsay while they're playing in Sacramento, but if they do, I'd be interested. Or at least I'd be interested in whomever is involved in getting the most out of these young guys.

    I'm excited for Jenkins, but I'm not sure he should be the consensus top prospect in the system. He looks like a really good player, but if he doesn't' develop power, his ceiling is going to be lower than people seem to view it now. And we've seen with Brooks Lee that the minor league 'high contact' skills aren't always transferable to the MLB level. Honestly, I think Keaschall and Culpepper have higher ceilings offensively. To be clear, this post is really an endorsement of Keashall and Culpepper and not a take down of Jenkins.

    The Pohlad's had no reason to cut the purse strings and the Twins had no reason to be in the position they are currently in; I'm thinking the lottery gods are not going to reward this organization after how willfully devious they have behaved.

    I've always been the low guy on Brooks Lee. However, that was due to the profile of good contact but low power. I was concerned about the XBH as slap hitting infielders are fun in theory but frustrating in practice. As it stands now, it looks like he may have the potential to at least be average in the slugging department. As to Lewis, he's still an immensely talented athlete and it shows even when he's not playing well. But I don't think either reach their full potential without a more instruction-forward coaching staff. I think if you get a Terry Francona, Joe Maddon, Ron Gardenhire or Paul Molitor type in there and there's a good chance these guys click and take off. I don't think a situational manager is a good fit for a young rebuilding team.

    Yeah, with an emergency surgery and hospitalization, hopefully sound minds prevail and he sits out the rest of this lost season.

    They're not running with Gasper as the only backup catcher (What? Not for real though right?!?) while also having him DH (NO, you LIE!!!!!!!). Jhonny Pereda will certainly get a spot.

    Agree. I've got serious complaints about his offenses, roster construction, trades, promotions and his choice in manager. Until this year, the MLB rotation has been exceptionally healthy and productive. It's easily his strongest area, so I'm not scratching the itch to complain about that part.

    The Twins are hoping Boston will cut Jovani Moran first so they can make a plaque stating that they won the trade.

    You're right, I should have said he was there when they started dumping the debt on to the Twins. I should have merely said he's been there while they were dumping debt on to the Twins. However, we have a pretty good idea a vague idea of what the origin of the debt is, considering everyone has speculated it's from their real estate ventures going belly up after COVID and no one from the Pohlad clan is denying it.

    The debt was about 25% of the asking price, and reportedly they gave 25% of their ownership to the hedge funds new ownership groups. So it stands to reason, either they think they can ask for 25% more than the 1.7B in the next couple of years, or they aren't planning on selling. Third option, is to continue dumping real estate debt on the team, then get another investor to buy a stake and eat their debt again in a few years.

    Joe Pohlad has been in charge since they said they were going to 'right size' the payroll after the successful 2023 season. He was there when the organization started dumping it's other business debts on to the Twins.

    And even if they had no influence, we're talking about 'partners' that agreed to buy their debt in exchange for a percentage of the Twins. This sounds more like Tony Soprano or Big Gus's Payday Loans kind of sketchy to me.

    Right. Joe Pohlad also wanted to run two different radio stations and they soon went bankrupt. As to the debt situation, the real estate market isn't in any better shape than when they started dumping their losses on the Twins. I've seen enough HELOCs to know that people who find a quick way to consolidate their debt, don't tend to change their ways, they just start accruing different debt which will later need to be dealt with.

    Right. If only Vazquez had caught every game the last three years instead of Jeffers the Twins probably would be chasing their third 100 win season in a row.
