  1. I'm unable to watch. So he looks grumpy and pissed off to be in Minnesota too?
  2. I agree, Sano should get demoted. To the fifth or six spot in the lineup. Seriously, what team thinks enough about a guy to bat him in the heart of the order than wanes so much on him that he goes to AAA instead of just taking him out of the spotlight part of the lineup?
  3. I think the more interesting note here is the Berardino is claiming Anthony HIMSELF told him this. Dropping that news is definitely not a move out of the Terry Ryan playbook. Between Anthony's loose lips, Jeremy Nygaard's near-miss source and employees from two other organizations in the know on this would-be deal, we might actually find out the details at some point.
  4. I don't think it's only comparing Nolasco and Santiago though. With the addition of Santiago to the rotation, the Twins have a new token lefty so Santiago is really replacing both Nolasco and Milone. If the Twins are going to have an overpaid and cringeworthy veteran AND an under-performing token lefty, I'd rather they be the same guy.
  5. As soon as I get the CIA to give me back my Abu Ghraib thumb drive.
  6. We don't moderate much in game threads, but pics of ball spanking will definitely be removed. Unless they are classy and tasteful in an artistic way of course.
  7. Don't offend just someone, offend everyone. Wait, I'm a moderator don't do that. You'll do great and no one will criticize no matter what you write. Thanks for doing it too.
  8. I always thought Robbie needed to lay off the body oil.
  9. They got some in the past, but now it appears most teams are taking advantage of the loophole. If 10 or so teams each year blow past their cap, I don't see how a team like the Twins will be able to get a top guy, the teams blowing their budget can and clearly this year did, crush any number the Twins or similar hesitant teams can offer. The Dodgers, Cubs and Yankees can go all out again next year I believe. Those three teams combined could spend $150M on the draft, if the Twins stick with their 5M or so budget they won't be getting any elite prospects.
  10. I'd think the way it is now, if the Twins will not go past their cap, the quality option will be forever off the table. Every other year the other teams will just outbid them on the top 50 or so guys and be content paying the overage penalty.
  11. Merging this with the original thread. Any news from those in the know is welcome. Looks like the team is/may be well short of their cap.
  12. I've been of the mind that catcher is a position that is about to become a league wide liability. The best hitters don't stunt their offensive potential anymore by taking up the position, and if it hasn't happened already, many parents are going to start keeping their kids from playing it due to the new national concussion awareness. Posey is the only (last?) year-in year-out good catcher. I'm not paying for the streaky and oft injured Ramos or Weiters, that sounds like throwing money away. The Twins can build a roster with an offensive hole at catcher, the rest of the league either already does or soon will. In 20 years both leagues will have the DH and catcher will be the new pitcher when filling out the lineup.
  13. The Twins are going to have rotation issues, but the Mets just went to the WS and the only free agent arm was the entirely affordable Colon. I don't think the folks currently in charge are capable of drafting and trading for Mets caliber starters, but they may not be in charge long. Hypothetically, how would people feel about the rotation/competitiveness if in the off season the Twins were able to swing a trade for someone like Chris Archer?
  14. Soooo, if Bill Smith was a bad GM, but was still retained after being fired, why didn't they just put him in charge of the International signings and budget? That seemed to be something he was good at, aside from that one time in Asia.
  15. I would have put the whole team on waivers at 3:01 yesterday if that was allowable. Maybe it is and maybe the Twins did.
  16. I barely remembered what this thread was about, I just remembered making my comment and had an internal eye-roll when I read the article.
  17. My kids' bedtimes hadn't been too much of a problem because, well the Twins weren't giving my anything good to watch anyway. I'm going to have to revisit 6:00 bedtimes though if these young guys keep doing this.
  18. Aaaaand two months later. http://www.inforum.com/news/4085802-video-fargo-man-claiming-be-uber-driver-lures-unsuspecting-woman-his-vehicle
  19. Also, with a decent year Santiago has a chance to be the Twins first ever QO offer!
  20. Even if the only difference is which arm they throw with, it gives them a lefty in the rotation which the Twins always seem to want. This trade then eliminates the need for Milone too.
  21. Make it 111%. The Mod Note was not aimed at Mike's comment. I can usually take a joke, even on a day when Kurt Suzuki wasn't traded. Which I guess is just about every day.
  22. ****Moderator Note***** Let's keep this thread on the topic of the Twins trades.
  23. How about just re-siging him as a free agent instead? An extension almost surely will require two additional years of commitment. If the Twins really, really super-duper want him, even they can afford to make him the top offer this off season, and maybe in the off season he will only require a one year deal.
  24. If it was only about Meyer and Nolasco, I'd rather do the same. Santiago has some scary peripherals, but if he does in 2017 what he did the past couple of years, the Twins could get back a pretty nice return this time next year. Could is the operative word of course, but I'm all for a gamble. I was a huge Meyer guy, I've lost faith in the last couple months though. This absence with little info seems so ominous.
  25. So just throwing it out there; last time Kurt Suzuki didn't get traded at the deadline and decided to keep him, he got extended.
