  1. I'd be interested in Cardinals employees. However I'd also like to think they could offer Mozeliak himself the PoBO gig. It would be a promotion by title and perhaps after seeing contemporaries Freidman, Epstien and Beane get the promotion, he'd be interested too. Of course the money would have to be right.
  2. This should come as a relief to all of us who were worried that Jim Pohlad didn't have the baseball acumen to make the right call. I feel a lot better knowing this is the direction they are going. Even if it doesn't work out, they still tried to do something modern.
  3. Yes that would be the succinct and more readable way to put it.
  4. That's frightening. I've seen Santiago pitch as a Twin, there's a high degree of probability he'll never be "ready".
  5. I was in the boat to trade Gibson last year too. I'm not in that boat now though. His value is low but I still want to see if a new GM comes in here and tells him to change his act. He has always been labeled a sinkerball pitcher, and I guess he is, however his sinker is his worst pitch, and it seems to me he is always throwing it as his "out" pitch with two strikes. I'd bet a more analytical team would have long ago told him to use his change and slider more often in two strike counts as opposed to his extremely hittable sinker.
  6. Right, this is mostly just a carryover thought I have each spring when I see that he is somehow, someway back on a MLB roster.
  7. How does Jeff Francoeur continue to be a commodity? I'm surprised every year when some team sticks him on their 25-man, and now he's been traded for two prospects despite his .671 OPS, poor defense and inability to get on base. Neither player is highly rated but the SS the Braves got from the Rangers has 42 XBH (14 HR) and 40 SB. Again, he's a SS. I'm not saying the Braves got a haul, but how is Francoeur tradable? He seems like he should be a DFA candidate. Like nearly every year.
  8. The 15 guys who are on the 40-man but not earning MLB paydays certainly can be exempt from the protest. I would not agree with, but I can understand an argument regarding players getting paid when they are not in season, but even during the season they are paid much too little. Also, comparing them to teachers doesn't seem too helpful considering public school educators are also a group who are shamefully under compensated.
  9. As my opinion is that Berrios' biggest issue is a little rookie mental block, I hope someone tells him soon that the game isn't televised and see if the results are any different.
  10. Is this extreme 'National Pride' and stigmatizing non-compliance with the National Anthem really at an all time nausea inducing high? Or is it still the same minority who simply now have more avenues to publicly shame folks. Most customs and traditions fade as generations go by. I'd bet fewer six-year-olds know to put their hands over their hearts today then they did 30 years ago.
  11. Reading the posts it now occurs to me that others actually didn't like the Willie Wilson comp. I know we all want Willie Mays, but Willie Wilson was a really good player and played nearly two decades. Even with the Buxton hype circa 2014 I'd think we all should have been happy with a Willie Wilsonesque career.
  12. That's interesting. I figured he was just drafted as an organizational catcher as you always need warm bodies to catch all the new pitchers. I wonder at what point in the process the Twins knew they were going to ask him to pitch. And I wonder how they knew he could.
  13. I watched a lot of it but I haven't at all followed the various methods of broadcasting the Olympics. Was there really no live streaming of the events at all? I mean even FSN has an app I can do that with the Twins. I'd guess that would change in Tokyo.
  14. And the troubling thing might not be that this is too much information, but seeing as this is some kind of ad hoc pitching correction committee, there's likely very little chance that every "instructor" knows what the other "instructors" are telling him.
  15. That's ridiculous. During an interview you're supposed to ask the male athletes to flex their biceps.
  16. Sports psychiatrists have been popular for some time. Do the Twins employ one? Because if a guy comes through the system and is praised for his command and work ethic, I'd think there's a good chance the underlying issue is simply dealing with the pressure. Also, I agree with the too many cooks in the kitchen theory. Let's clean that kitchen out and get a new cook. Just one. Make sure it's a good one.
  17. I assumed it would devolve into Lord of the Flies long before two hours. Perhaps I'm just an optimist.
  18. Leave it to a foreigner to figure out how to fix our election process! Genius! This needs to happen.
  19. I don't disagree, I wouldn't try to claim it's quality art. Seeing as the message of "The Emperor has no Clothes" seems to be a pretty apt analogy with Trump, I wouldn't be surprised if simply a naked Trump was the intention, but when they got to the genitals they just couldn't resist acting like junior high kids and had fun with that too. I agree though that the message of "don't blindly follow a fool" is partly if not mostly lost by, "that guy has a tiny wiener and no testicles! Ha ha ha". Also true that some would get upset if that was done to Clinton, personally, I'll just roll my eyes when the Trump supporter living in his mom's basement makes a Hillary statue of her naked with a giant penis. There's probably a few dozen of those being made right now.
  20. They should have made his hands small too. My favorite line: “NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small,” a parks department spokesperson told Gothamist. Is that the NYC Parks' way of saying by law they had to take it down but personally they thought it was hilarious? I'm not simply a teenager reading innuendo where there isn't supposed to be any, am I?
  21. Right, it's a statement about everyone pretending they don't notice Trump's delusions and poor judgment. Well, thankfully not everyone, just his blind followers.
  22. I think you meant to post this in the "Sport Requiring the Most Athleticism" thread.
  23. You're thinking of a Seinfeld episode.
  24. That guy and goalies? Are we still talking about most athletic or most mentally incapacitated?
  25. No, even if there is debate, gymnasts certainly qualify as a candidate. Some of that stuff seems like it shouldn't be physically possible. We just saw a 4' 10" 18-year-old woman who could probably beat 70% of men in an arm wrestling contest and 90% of us in a foot race. And those skills are only a small component of what she does.
