  1. Are the Silver Slugger Award voters using wRC and WAR to determine this stuff? I really don't know, I haven't followed the award in a long time, it just used to go to the best power hitting player at each position. They used to look at HR and RBI totals and then if it was close, they'd go back and look at the HRs again. Unless this is the one award that has changed with the times, I'd think there's a good chance Dozier may be ahead of Altuve.
  2. Narcos season 2 came out. The first season was good, but the "good guys" were probably quite a bit more "good" than history would suggest they actually were. In season 2 "good vs bad" is much less obvious. Which is "good". The only trailer I saw for McGuyver looked pretty terrible to me. You guy's will have to let me know if it's not. I haven't watched a network series drama for quite awhile. Again, let me know if they stop failing to disappoint. I've been spoiled by the quality of cable, and I guess I have turned into a TV snob.
  3. And while Jack is a friend of the site, posting respectfully is a requirement here and thus the other men listed above deserve the same consideration, whether posters approve of their jobs or not. And aside from Anthony, and perhaps Deron Johnson, there is probably next to no information we as fans have that would indicate how any of them perform at their jobs.
  4. I hope it's not a duet:
  5. Good point on the first paragraph. Even if we as fans don't buy the idea that these guys won't interview for "personal reasons", perhaps there are some. And I really don't want to be negative as we are finally getting a change as we requested, but when we've already heard "no" from the first two guys the TD fan base brainstormed, a sense of worry is inevitable.
  6. Particularly when the team is viewed as still having a very strong pool of youthful talent. Just prior to Ryan getting fired, Jim Pohlad had popped out of his rabbit hole and sat down for more interviews than he'd done in a decade. I'd sure like another one right about now if only for one of the local reporters to make it clear that this team is more important to the area than the Wolves or the Wild and fans expect at minimum the same level of commitment to doing this right.
  7. Three Latin coaches. That's encouraging.
  8. Has anyone seen anything on who is involved in the interviews aside from Pohlad and St. Peter? Is the search firm also sitting down for these interviews? There has to be someone with strong baseball acumen right? I also hope that Cherrington's and Anthopoulos's declination to even interview causes Jim Pohlad to take a long contemplative look at the reasons this team isn't attracting top names while the other pro teams in Minnesota have.
  9. Yeah, but everyone knows what they did to succeed. If we just want to copy that model, the team can hire anyone; the blueprint isn't copywrited. KC didn't do anything innovative, they walked into Terry Ryan's discarded early 2000's method of competing on the cheap: good defense and a good bullpen. Reading more on Picollo, he was passed over by the Phillies and Astros as they wanted analytical GMs. If that's a weakness, I'd pass too.
  10. I'm more of the mind that draft picks resulting from two decades of futility played a large role. The Royals have done some things well, but so much of it seemed to be "right place at the right time" kind of success. Once this run is through, and it looks like this year may be it, I wouldn't have a ton of faith in Moore being able to rebuild and doing it again. Not that Picollo isn't a completely different human being.
  11. He's only got two more years left, and I'm not sure how useful that would be for a team that looks this dysfunctional. It would seem to me you have to either trade him or extend him. But do you really want to extend a 2B beyond his age 32 season? Especially a 2B who's defense is already declining and doesn't look to have any other position to move to?
  12. I wouldn't dispute that, but for half the population, being qualified is a negative it seems.
  13. I would guess the next GM may do his or her best to exorcise some of these corner power bats with excessive strikeout numbers. I'd think Walker would be one of the top options to go considering most of the other power corner bats with strikeout issues can also get on base. He's at AAA with lots of power and lots of options, he'd probably be a decent low value throw in piece in part of a larger move.
  14. In-actions too. One in particular.
  15. No offense, but I would like to throw your guess in a trunk, secure it with a padlock and toss it in the river.
  16. If he's being given credit for all of those excellent Boston/Chicago draft decisions and player development, I'd think the POBO would be a good spot for him, where as perhaps the GM would be more involved with the day-to-day activities of the club. Also, while it would seem logical that the team would hire the POBO first, I didn't see anything that confirmed that McLeod is actually being interviewed for the POBO gig, perhaps it is for the GM job. I don't think any of us would be surprised to find out this team is going about these hirings bass-ackwards.
  17. Sooooo, does the search firm run the interview too, because otherwise....
  18. http://money.cnn.com/2016/09/12/investing/wells-fargo-hearing-senate-ceo-testify-elizabeth-warren/index.html Would have run away with this thing. She's not a career politicians which is what the most of the Trump supporters claim they want, and she has the personality and aggressive traits that others wish were more evident in Hillary.
  19. Well any number/rating/ranking is infinitely more than zero.
  20. If she had yet to be diagnosed with pneumonia, how is any of that a lie? No one is going to lie about pneumonia when saying nothing means people are going to go all conspiracy theory about cancer and strokes. And why is having pneumonia a real issue? Last I checked we invented antibiotics since William Henry Harrison got it. Considering that plenty, if not most people will be voting for Clinton simply to prevent the anti-Christ from taking over, she could be in a vegetative coma and it shouldn't matter. Tim Kaine is still an infinitely more qualified and infinitely less deplorable option anyway.
  21. Why would anyone lie about pneumonia when the alternative knee-jerk assumption is much, much worse?
  22. I understand the complaint with the article that it's heavy on criticism and light on solution, but it's a piece by a national publication, not a Twins-centered source. I'm not sure it's intent is to inform us Twins fans of the issues with this club so much as a national PSA about complacency or whatever the moral is. It seems fair even if it elicits a collective "Duh" with us.
  23. I would guess the Twins thinking at the time was that the team was good so they were more concerned with getting "MLB ready" guys to keep the immediate winning. It took them falling off the map in 2011 to realize that they had to start restocking with high upside but long term projects. They should have realized that Camelot would soon fall, but it was probably hard to accept until it was too late to save it.
  24. Well at least we can write serious complete sentences. I love the Vikings, but there is definitely a cultural difference between football and baseball fans.
  25. I'm so tired of those damn Russians.
