  1. Says Trump's campaign team. People have and will always be unsatisfied with those areas; has there ever been a president that didn't have each of those same issues hanging over their heads? How are those "Clinton" issues and not "Every-Single-American-Government-for-the-Past-240-years" issues.
  2. Buxton has been a slow starter every year, I wouldn't expect anything different next season; for some guys it's just a rite of spring. If it happens again I'd hope everyone remembers not to panic. Also, I'd hope he snaps out of any early season funk in May, not September.
  3. A repeat of the past four years looks a lot better than the alternative. I understand the innate desire to stick it to politicians who don't end up looking out for the interests of those they serve, I really do, but this has gotten crazy. Trump is the epitome of the guy the unethical politicians end up benefiting at the expense of the average Joe. It would be like getting upset at the banks and demanding banking reforms and putting the Wells Fargo CEO in charge of it. Or it would be like getting upset with military involvement and putting George Patton in charge of withdrawing and reducing the military.
  4. Could those people please be Corey Kluber, Danny Salazar and Carlos Carrasco?
  5. Works for me. I also wonder if Falvey's title was based on a reluctance to re-title St. Peter. It seems a little odd since St Peter is really not in charge of Baseball Operations but instead in charge of Business Operations. I wonder what the reasoning behind that non-move is. It's not like he'd have to take a pay cut or have his status changed.
  6. I'd understand if quite a few of the current staff are kept, but keeping Anthony is a hard sell for me. If they keep the band together with Anthony still as GM, it seems to me Falvey will be doing a lot of "teaching", as all reports are that this team is so far behind the times. I want the collaboration of strong baseball minds to begin now, not after Falvey teaches these guys his way of thinking. To me that means that he has to bring in another modern mind as GM now; either he or the new GM may be more focused on day-to-day operations while the other is preoccupied with getting those that remain from the last regime up to speed. I don't want Falvey to be a one man show here. I mean this team is going to have the #1 pick, likely the biggest draft pool and international draft pool and perhaps two of the most sought after veterans available on the trade market. If this team needs a diverse group to make up a think tank to drive the future, this is the year it is needed most.
  7. I don't like him because of his repeated flouting of the "i before e" rule.
  8. I just would think that Falvey and Pohlad would have discussed a game plan already, I'd think that would be part of the interview process. It also seems extremely un-Twinslike to not let the current crew know if they are going to get axed. It seems hard to believe no one has let it slip by now that a bunch of them are getting fired.
  9. I'd like to hear more updates on this situation. I'd think that Falvey would have an idea who his GM would be, and I'd think we'd be hearing some rumors or ideas. I'm starting to fear all that's going to happen is Falcey is installed at the top and Anthony and company all stay.
  10. Don't be a biggot, all humans should be treated with respect. Wait, do those guys think they have evolved and are superior to humans? Yeah biggot on.
  11. At the front door of the Chicago Tribune it appears: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/editorials/ct-gary-johnson-president-endorsement-edit-1002-20160930-story.html Explain yourself! The Tribune thinks Clinton has gone as far left as Bernie Sanders?!? I think they might have gotten a contact high from interviewing Johnson.
  12. I'm OK with him waiting to become elite in the next year or two. It's not like it would have made any difference this year anyway. I don't think they could have had nine elite bats and gone .500 this year.
  13. They might be saving that card for a second term platform if she's on more solid footing. It could also be tied into repealing "three strikes" kind of laws and felony charges for possession of controlled substances which is also trending in the right direction.
  14. Personally, as a former strong believer in Meyer, I was ready to believe that his latest shoulder issue was going to derail his career before it began. He hadn't pitched in quite some time and the news on him was vague at best and intentionally obscured at worst. It seemed so ominous to me. Now I'm starting to wonder if there was actually much of an injury at all or if Scott Boras was so fed up with the way the Twins (Molitor) handled Meyer that he demanded a trade, yet he still had enough respect for Terry Ryan that he let the differences simmer outside of public view. As for the Nolasco part, I was all for getting him out of town and I didn't much care by what means.
  15. If Clinton opposed Civil Rights in her youth, you're talking about at a very young age, and I assume you are talking about her campaigning for her Republican father as a teenager. The fact that she soon broke from her family's ideologies as a young person seems pretty impressive to me. Also the "racial laws of the 90s" were misguided but seemed like a good idea to just about every civic minded person back in the day. The laws were clearly intended to get the drug dealers out of the neighborhoods with the assumption that it would make drugs less accessible to the youth and make the streets safer. I have to say, I'm really getting tired of this BS. It turned out to be a poor idea, but people now act like locking up minorities for minor drug offenses was the intent of the policy all along, which obviously it wasn't, it was simply an effort to combat drugs with consequences that were not at the time so crystal clear.
  16. Hmmm, seems he's left them in about five months too long then.
  17. I'm not sure how many people take the actual words of the endorsement to heart. I think the biggest benefit in a situation like this is for those people who identify as conservative but know Trump is a bad idea. Hopefully they'll see that if others are going against their traditional ideology this one time, they can too because as a group the pill isn't so hard to swallow.
  18. I'd hope that other newspapers in conservative areas see this and realize they too can be brave and go against their traditional affiliations. Though, while this is just speculation, I suppose it's probably likely that Trump supporters don't avidly read their local papers.
  19. Yes, that was my optimistic take.
  20. Here's an (optimistic) take: Molitor doesn't trust young players so he makes rash decisions on them due to the mis-guided but long held belief that the veterans are more likely to salvage a win. The Twins are already at 100 losses so every manager in this situation should know that developing the youth in hopes that they can provide more wins next year is more important than trying to salvage a futile win now; unless you're managing for your job. If Molitor isn't confident in his job security, then it's likely it's not as rock solid as Jim Pohlad publicly claims. Again, just looking at the optimistic angle.
  21. Parker, after Derek Falvey hires you as a member of his staff, will you still contribute here?
  22. I don't know, the Twins had to have made a killing this year in revenue with all the tickets they sold and advertisers they attracted. Maybe they can give Suzuki a QO and tell him if he accepts it they'll shoot his dog.
  23. McPhail replaced Morris with a really good John Smiley and chili Davis with Dave Winfield. There's no reason to think McPhail wouldn't have at least continued to use free agency as a tool unlike Ryan. If he wouldn't have continued to use free agency, that surely would have been on the owner, not him.
  24. There isn't a free agent available that should replace Berrios. If Ervin Santana were a free agent, he'd be the top guy available. Just about everyone who is usable has an option that will be picked up and those that don't have options will get a qualifying offer. Rich Hill will almost certainly be retained by the Dodgers.
  25. My biggest disappointment came when Clinton slammed Trump for his discriminatory housing practices and Trump came back with how he made an country club in Florida that wasn't discriminatory. I haven't watched any debate discussions since last night so I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but Clinton should have pointed out how Trump was bragging about an instance of him not discriminating as if not discriminating in that single instance is something to celebrate and not the norm. Congrats on not being a bigot that one time.
