  1. It took me 4 1/2 years to make one, you think I'm changing?!
  2. Hey that was post #8000 for me. Too bad I didn't write something more thoughtful and timeless. Maybe I should try again; I can just go back and delete a post or two about how I thought the Twins should draft Mark Appel instead of Buxton.
  3. Ah but then we would need to buy new Prism TV's to replace the broken ones.
  4. Geez, would it kill you guys to read a (1138 page) book once in awhile?
  5. Don't worry, It's not. It's a shape shifting demigod from outer space that eats kids.
  6. Right, I wonder if they actually think Molitor is a selling point for some reason.
  7. Or perhaps the Twins front office is vastly over-estimating the average fan's attachment to Molitor. Or is it possible that the abnormal fans (us) are greatly under-estimating the average fan's attachment. Is it possible the casual fans want him to stay?
  8. I can't agree with this. To me this sends one of two messages to the new POBO, 1 ) the owner meddles in baseball decisions or 2 ) the owner is too thrifty and won't provide me with the resources I need to build a team/front office that I envision. Also, was the word "gritty" really used? If so, I would like to asses the Twins PR team an infraction for trolling.
  9. Yeah, we're getting Johnsoned every which way this election.
  10. Also, doesn't he know politicians are supposed to pretend to know everything and fake what they don't know? "I feed my dog Iams not Aleppo so I have no feelings on the matter" was the correct answer for the geographically challenged politician. Then in the follow up press release he is supposed to blame Mike Barnicle for being terrible at enunciation.
  11. Well I think it's fair to assume he just thinks Iraq is part of Wyoming.
  12. As long as Matt Lauer isn't the moderator and giving Trump back rubs throughout the proceedings.
  13. I couldn't find a link showing who would have been the Twins projected team. Do international signings count? Are we basically swapping out Suzuki for Wilson Ramos and Grossman for Oswaldo Arcia? Matt Garza for Ervin Santana? Who am I missing that the Twins lost? Danny Vakencia? Chris Herrmann? Liam Hendricks? The Twins neither drafted nor signed David Ortiz he'd be a ding for the Mariners under this hypothetical. This hypothetical also penalizes teams for winning a trade years ago after the players they acquired moved on. I'm sure many tears have been shed this year because AJ Pierzynski's .3 WAR was sacrificed for Joe Nathan and Francisco Liriano. What a waste, those two haven't helped the Twins WAR at all this year!
  14. I'm not hammering the Twins for this anymore because the team seemed to make a clear change after the 2010 draft indicating the also agree their approach was probably not the correct one, but it was actually 2010 when the Twins picked the low ceiling Wimmers over a slew of high upside HS arms which included Syndergaard, Sanchez, Tijuan Walker, Zack Lee, Jesse Biddle and Cam Bedrosian. Those were the next six HS arms taken in fact. Full disclosure to show I'm not playing Captian Hindsight: My first choice was Zack Lee, one of only two busts of the bunch. There were plenty of folks even back then that were saying the Twins had to start targeting guys who had a shot at becoming top of the rotation arms, but again, I think they realized that by 2011, they just weren't able to for reasons we can only speculate about.
  15. I agree that there likely will be some personnel who get to remain as there are a lot of seats to fill. I might think Anthony might be among the least likely though as it would mean a demotion and your predecessor looking over your shoulder. I'd think maybe Krivsky would be a likely carryover due to his experience in the front office and his background as a scout as well. Maybe Radcliff stays or even Daron Johnson in a different capacity. I don't know what happened in any of the other places with drastic changes, but I can't imagine that the whole scouting system got scrapped and they started over with completely new bodies. So my guess is the most likely higher-ups to stay would be involved with that side of things.
  16. AA scares me a bit, mostly because I do prefer to develop more players than to trade for them; I much prefer youth to experience. I'm all for a change and I'd certainly give any new approach a shot though. The biggest issue I'd see with AA is that if the Twins ownership isn't willing to have a top 10-15 payroll, this team won't be able to hold onto the vets they trade for very long. Toronto had a top 10 payroll each of AA's last three years, that seems like it would be pretty crucial to his strategy. But maybe ownership is willing to meet the monetary demands or AA can work with a different approach.
  17. Well Gary can say, "What is Aleppo?" http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/08/politics/gary-johnson-aleppo/index.html Good lord, the Libertarian party chose only slightly more poorly than the Republicans.
  18. He's moving to catcher next year.
  19. Off topic but I keep seeing this abbreviation: -The club is set to institute a two-tier arrangement, hiring a PBOp who will in turn hire a GM.- http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/09/twins-eyeing-cubs-front-office-in-executive-search.html Pu-Leez, POBO (or PoBO if they must) is clearly a much better acronym for the position. These silly fools need to get on board the POBO train.
  20. La Russa, Stewart and Kirk Gibson previously have been pretty loud in their bravado about being "old school". If the Twins wanted to follow AZ in that regard, they wouldn't have needed to hire a search firm. If anything, I would bet the Twins OVER-correct when it comes to the new regime and statistical analysis, it's probably the thing they've gotten hammered on the most. Also, I'm pretty skeptical about La Russa's level of involvement. He retired from managing, took a year off, then took this POBO gig? That sounds an awful lot like trying to land a cushy part-time retirement job. He got the job before Beane, Epstien and Freidman re-defined the position. At the time he took the job, I viewed it as more of a figurehead position and I don't think I was alone. There have been more than one comment from Stewart and La Russa that seem like they weren't exactly on the same page. I think this is mostly if not entirely Dave Stewart's show.
  21. I guess I don't understand the current outrage. We're getting a big change, it could be total change. This is what it seems like 95% of the posters here wanted. Why are we getting exasperated about decisions, poor or otherwise, that are being made in the final days of a regime that is exiting? If they were making the decisions that we wanted them to make, it would be extraordinarily hypocritical to want them all fired as well.
  22. Donuts to dollars it will be as riveting as a discussion comparing the careers of Dave Stevens and Scott Klingenbeck.
  23. Not to put a damper on the celebration, but Atlanta has been extremely aggressive in moving veterans and restocking their system. Meanwhile the Twins appear to be losing games despite everyone from Anthony down knowing their jobs are on the line. Atlanta wants the #1 pick next June, the Twins aren't concerned with anything on the calendar later than tomorrow. If it comes to getting the first pick, the Twins are going to be huge underdogs as Atlanta likely will unashamedly tank with a smile on their face while they're doing it, while the Twins will still do everything in their power to win as many as possible.
  24. Normally I'd agree as I can't see the next GM keeping any of the current group so a move would be pointless. But Gene Glynn seems like he would be a legit managerial candidate (just not here) and a very respected man. If I knew a house cleaning was coming and I didn't pin any of the current disaster on Glynn, I might let Molitor go just so Glynn could audition for future jobs around the league. This is based on courtesy clearly, not strategy.
