  1. Cook. I guess I'll be excited. Didn't want to waste a pick on a RB early but it's done, let's run crazy.
  2. Ugh, jinxed them. Trade up.
  3. Lots of these recent trades have been including 2018 picks. I might be interested in something like that. The guys I like are really dwindling.
  4. The guys viewed as the best available are going fast at the top of round 2.
  5. "Power will continue to improve" at Target Field? For a lefty? I don't buy it. There's only been one lefty for the Twins who didn't get his butt kicked by that park, and he was a historical slobber-knocker of a slugger. Not a guy who might develop power. There are power lefties I'm interested in, but not at 1-1. The home park should be considered; it might be too much to overcome even for an otherwise excellent ball player. It might not, but thus far the results are far too ominous.
  6. WHIP means nothing when the game is on the line with a runner on 3B and one out. The runner scores whether Belisle gets a routine grounder to second or if Tonkin gives up a hit. Most teams aren't paying for saves and holds. They pay for strikeouts and command. That has zero reflection on Tonkin, just the idea that in 2017 any smart team would pay for save or a hold.
  7. Because it's not a promotion, it's a role. If you have a guy on 3B with one out you need to bring in a guy who can get a strikeout; basically that's Tonkin's only skill. Molitor needs to stop looking at his bullpen as some kind of hierarchy based on merit and seniority. It's not like you'd ever promote a hot hitting slap-hitter like Ben Revere to the cleanup spot in the lineup.
  8. I prefer in short order actually.
  9. I'd love to have a guy like Lee, but with those types who have modest velocity, the margin for error is just so small. We've heard the "quick to the majors" a ton around here and have Gibson, Wimmers and oodles of other yet-to-debut relievers to show for it. If we want to look outside the organization, Mark Appel was perhaps the epitome of a "quick to the majors" arm. Color me skeptical that that phrase holds any kind of true value.
  10. I'm open to the idea of getting a discount at number 1 if it meant getting a top 10-15 guy with the next comp pick, but saving money to get a 3rd round talent in round 10 would give me no pause about taking the best player in the draft regardless of money. And I don't think the economics work anymore for getting a top 10-15 guy at #35, and I'd want it lined up and fairly concrete prior to going into the draft.
  11. Interesting. I go back and forth whether he should be ranked 35th or 37th. Definitely not 36th though.
  12. I don't care about his selectivity at the plate. I care that he hasn't changed his swing since he came up as a young man. It was lauded as a perfect swing. Back in 2006. Before statitistics made a perfect swing obsolete due to the predictability of the resulting contact. He needs to swallow his pride and talk to Castro about the advantages of creating lift and pulling the ball. And starting his swing earlier.
  13. That's less than 100 last I checked.
  14. We're still playing games? I thought we called it a season to ensure a winning record in 2017. This might be a mistake.
  15. I don't like it. But only because I completely agree and have been advocating for the last half decade or so that the Twins groome "closers" by inflating Joe Blow bullpen guys with save stats and flipping them. It's super easy to create a closer out of thin air; can't really do that with any other position. So long dreams of riches and undeserved prospects.
  16. Yeah, looks like he's going for the Ricky Vaughn look. Sounds like he's nailing the "Wild Thing" part down.
  17. I hate to be that guy, but this team still isn't going to bring home a trophy without better young starters. Dozier or Santana might bring back something very promising but neither is getting moved if the team is flirting with .500 all year. I don't want more one and done playoff series; I'm not going to be satisfied and content just getting to the post season, they need to do it right this time. Doing it right often means making sacrifices, which aren't popular or painfree.
  18. Probably because then he wouldn't have gotten to yell at his brother. It wasn't much of a burglary, he barged in to tell his brother off and grab the tape.
  19. Or because they needed Vader to stand out from his minions both visually and in terms of his villainy. I don't think the opening scenes of A New Hope would have been nearly as impactful if a black clad Vader was visually lost in a crowd of also black clad henchmen.
  20. I loved that scene though. I thought Jimmy did pretty good for being an amature and all. I loved his face after he took a sip of his coffee after he added a ton of creamer or sugar. Ugh, yeah black coffee only for me also. I'd have to guess the drop never happened because Gus noticed Jimmy watching the other guy, but Jimmy really didn't know to be looking for someone watching him. I wasn't sure if Jimmy had actually fake dropped his watch in the trash, that was a pretty good cover and quick.
  21. I agree. At the same time I acknowledge that it's possible I could miss something decent. He should be at the point in his career where he could have a JohnTravolta (Pulp Fiction) or Bill Murray (Lost in Translation) revival. Probably won't happen though, I'm still waiting for Eddie Murphy to make a legit comeback. He's done some more dramatic stuff where the movies weren't very good but he actually was. If a good director gets him in another roll like that I'll give it a shot.
  22. Midnight? Good lord, did I drink myself through daylight savings again?
  23. Wow. You're quite the optimist thinking you're going to get to attend another game this year.
  24. Burn your bras in the sports bar! With all due respect.
  25. Yeah let's go with crazy. Because the alternative is a Van-less TD in about a quarter century. Not that most of you old fogies will be here to send him off.
