  1. We've already seen at Target Field you don't need a ton of range in RF, but you do need an arm. An undesirable arm can also be mitigated in LF but some range is kind of needed at TF. Poor range AND a weak arm are kind of hard to cover up though. One of those things needs to see improvement.
  2. Could be, but there's no way the Twins would have put Josh Willingham in CF to try to market him. Grossman was a regular centerfielder throughout his career. It'd be nice to find a bunch of defensive videos of him in Houston just to see if his mobility and arm were the same then as we saw them last year. It's just so hard to imagine a team at any level putting the guy we saw last year into the game as a CF under any circumstances.
  3. I agree, but where did this come from? He was the regular CF for Cleveland's AAA team last year. No way they would have ran him out there all 19 of his games if he was doing then what he's doing now.
  4. And Grossman is only 2 years older than Rosario. If Grossman can get his defense figured out and Rosario can't get his pitch selection figured out, it's not like it's out of the question that Grossman could end up being the long(er) term option and Eddie ends up being the odd man out.
  5. It would make sense that the long history of organizational pride in continuity would breed organizational resistance to change. If everyone is patting the team on the back for low turnover and high consistency the entire culture probably starts developing a sense that their way is the right way, and always will be.
  6. I'd like Joe to be less selective but in my view his failure to adapt his approach isn't nearly as big of an issue as his failure to adapt his swing. While everyone else in the league has now realized the benefits of trying to get lift on the ball, Mauer is still trying to swing across a table top. More importantly, there's a reason he's not hitting lefties like he used to, he's having a harder time catching up to them because, duh, he's 34 now. He always used to get complemented on how he was able to wait on the pitch and hit it towards the back of the plate; he just can't do that like he used to. There's a reason so many of history's great hitters developed more power but struck out more toward the end of their careers; they'd start cheating on pitches. Like so many others, Joe just has to suck it up and realize that change isn't shameful but necessary. 34-year-old Joe Mauer should not have the same swing as 24-year-old Joe Mauer.
  7. Yeah last year was strange with his defensive issues. I mean the guy was the starting CF for Cleveland's AAA team this time last year. That was the only position he played for them! That obviously doesn't mean he was a great defender but it sure indicates something bizarre happened; aside from injury, who's ever seen a guy who went from CF capable to DH only in less than a month. At the age of 26 no less.
  8. Me too. Unfortunately I rarely got to see such a sight.
  9. Danny you're mother and I are not mad, we're just very disappointed.
  10. You can't have too much tunnel vision though. You need to watch your step or you'll slip in your own vomit when you hit the 300 meter mark.
  11. Crystal ball says that by the time Blackenhorn is being considered for a call-up the incumbent third baseman will have replaced the incumbent first baseman opening up a spot at the hot corner. I'm skeptical but it's hard to argue with a crystal ball.
  12. Yeah, my track coach just would not listen when I would tell him that the 400 was not a sprint and you had to pace yourself. I didn't like events that took me more than 15 seconds to complete.
  13. 400, yuck, that's a tough race, got me puking every time.. I was a jumper and a hurdler.
  14. I think you have your Farley skits mixed up. I'm not sure that's a forgivable offense.
  15. I don't. Shhhhh, let's keep him quite, BA didn't even have him in their top 100. Until I see a reputable mock draft with him going much higher, I'm still holding out hope the Twins snag him with one of their next two picks. With the bubbling hype, it's hard to understand why none of these publications other than fangraphs is pumping this guy up.
  16. The video didn't seem to show Buxton actually pulling his head, it simply looked like he never moved it. It pretty much stayed in the same place from the time the ball was in the pitcher's glove until it was in the catcher's. And it was always in the catcher's.
  17. I'd think a moderator would know trolling is against posting policy.
  18. At this point I'll complement Vladimir Putin if he can fix Buxton.

  20. Yeah, probably can't do much to include her without Natalie Portman's character. With the main characters they're going to have to recast or kill them off when they want out of the series, but if actresses like Portman and Gwenyth Paltrow who have less essential roles, I wonder if they'll just write them off with a line of dialogue or two if they won't come back to get killed off on screen. I know comics always have love interests, but typically they aren't plot essential.
  21. Impossible. That doesn't fit with my agenda obsession observation joke that Gibson should give up his sinker.
  22. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3118/2337174727_5d817d764f_m.jpg Use a picture of Old Yeller. Let's just get this over with. http://www.rellimzone.com/images/movies/old-yeller-1957-11.png
  23. Maybe Gibson should just start grooving fastballs down the middle instead of sinkers out of the zone. The Tigers batted .500 against his sinker yesterday and got nary a hit against his other three pitches: http://www.brooksbaseball.net/outcome.php?player=502043&b_hand=-1&gFilt=&pFilt=FA|SI|FC|CU|SL|CS|KN|CH|FS|SB&time=game&minmax=ci&var=baa&s_type=2&startDate=04/12/2017&endDate=01/01/2018
