  1. When the entirety of your post-season press conference centers around the team being over budget, the other teams tend to know you're over budget.
  2. This article is timed perfectly: I'm heading to Vegas for work at the end of this week and will be hitting the under on the 84.5 wins the books seem to have them on. Unless, of course, they do something to actually improve the team in the next 72 hours.
  3. This is part of the reason they won't. Potential owners don't want PR nightmares. Bauer is going to provide that and beyond the allegations there haven't been many glowing things said about him by his former teams.
  4. A redemption year is playing in 102 and not clearing 400 PAs for the ninth time in 10 seasons? What a low bar we've set.
  5. If that's the cost, I will 100% pay that. I'd even straight up pay for MLB TV, which I think is more, provided I could access Twins games. Would've done it before this, too. Blackouts have always been silly - I'm glad MLB is finally recognizing it.
  6. Many of us are probably still a bit on edge, given the nosedive our favorite team took over the last month of the season, but I'd like to see what everyone's predictions are for the offseason. I'm thinking less a blueprint or wish list of what you'd like them to do or what we'd collectively like to see them do before Spring Training starts, but rather what you think they'll do - whether you like it or not. No prediction too big or too small, too boring or too far out of left field. I'll start: they will trade Royce Lewis to acquire pitching help. I'll follow that up by saying I know this is far-fetched, and depending on the return I'm not sure what I think about it. But given his injury concerns, the questions about his glove, the fact that he wore down after playing half a season at age 25, and a potential rift between him and Correa, I think it's plausible. I also don't get the impression he loves being in Minnesota. The injury and defensive concerns might give pause to some teams, but the upside when he's right is clearly there and would likely outweigh the negatives (perceived or otherwise) for many clubs. Also, aside from exploring deals involving Jenkins, Rodriguez, and any combination of top prospects, he likely has the most value. Again, not sure I'd make a move and I haven't given a single thought as to what the return might be, just a gut reaction I've had. So, fellow TD readers, what have you?
  7. Sorry, but I'm not celebraing someone playing 61.7% of games.
  8. Guessing this was written in advance and not updated? Eliminated from playoff contention and Kepler moved to the 60-day IL yesterday - it was super important to get Funderburk up last night, apparently. It was a nice thought that he'd get a proper send-off once they were eliminated, but the best he can hope for is to be summoned from the dugout by the fans. While it could happen because the general fanbase seems to be more appreciative of Max than the lot frequenting this website is, I doubt Rocco and/or the front office would be on board as he's been little more than Rocco's scapegoat (as Cuddyer was for Gardy) and the front office's favorite hypothetical trade chip.
  9. He's probably rummaging through dollar bins in the local baseball card shops trying to wrap up that Mariners team card rainbow he's been hunting for.
  10. Festa wouldn't be a bad option if the rotation options to take his place weren't Randy Dobnak and Louie Varland. Since they are, give me Winder, with a sprinkling of Louie and Paddack down the stretch (especially since this seems to be the logical long-term home for both).
  11. But it puts into context how poorly Hill pitched in his other 28 outings. When he was a year younger than he currently is.
  12. It's closer than you'd think. Hill 2020: 0-0, 2,84 ERA, 19 IP, 16/9 K/BB 2021: 2-1, 1.02 ERA, 26.1 IP, 26/9 K/BB 2022: 1-0. 0.94 ERA, 19 IP, 15/4 K/BB 2023: 3-1, 1.92 ERA, 21.1 IP, 19/7 K/ Festa 24: 1-1, 2.84 ERA, 17.2 IP, 25/8 K/BB
  13. I'll pay for Randy's Uber from Minneapolis to St. Paul if that's what's holding things up.
  14. Any team could sign him at any time, but based on his antics, both on-field and in the clubhouse, I don't see that happening any time soon. The fact that he's been unpopular with teammates and coaches going back to his UCLA days would be bad enough, but you combine that with the media/PR nightmare that would follow him based on the allegations that have been levied against him (I know "no charges"), and the juice is 100% not worth the squeeze.
  15. Only if you upgrade your cable package. So my choices are the Savannah Bananas (I'd rather die), Red Sox/Rangers, Royals/Tigers, or Stink Town/Nationals. So likely no baseball for me tonight. Again.
  16. Fired up the old Xfinity box tonight and, yep, my cable package doesn't include Bally. Any good will this team has built with me over the last 40 years is dead. Time to choose a new team (and TV provider) that actually cares about its fans/customers.
  17. Some here are incapable of that. They think if you criticize a team at all, you're not a real fan.
  18. I'm sure they will, but I wouldn't. Baltimore, themselves desperate for pitching after losing Means, Wells, and Bradish, let him walk for nothing. I thought maybe as a bullpen guy, but his splits there this year are even worse.
