  1. Those three grouped with Thielbar (who was going to never age and go off the cliff) and Stewart (who, despite clearing a whopping 30 innings once since 2016 was going to be the picture of health going forward) was supposed to be the cat's pajamas. The offseason was a much simpler time.
  2. My favorite part was nobody admitting that Thielbar is getting older and could fall off.
  3. I figure I'll be heading down to the capital area with my work laptop and a slop bucket early next week. I can save you a spot if you like.
  4. I have no idea who Jay Harry is, but looking Trevor Richards' numbers, I'll go out on a limb and say they overpaid.
  5. Gross. Maybe I'm glad I can't watch the games anymore (and won't upgrade my cable package on Thursday to do so).
  6. I'd bet heavily on the 2021 vintage. He was figured out after 19 starts. If the intent is to stack him with Festa, I expect the only way his pitches won't get spanked is if the Mets' arms are tired from swinging off Festa.
  7. They're ahead of schedule this year. Usually the "look at the fluffy bunny with the cool story" promotions don't happen until a journeyman minor league infielder gets tossed a bone before they start collecting Social Security.
  8. And nothing to gain.
  9. And here I thought the list of targets in the original post was depressing.
  10. I view Randy more like that canned "meat" you find in dollar stores. No brand, no explanation, but some people seem to gobble it up, no matter how sick it makes you.
  11. But Lucas Sims is a righty. Is he especially good against lefties?
  12. Unless that .3 includes a World Series trophy, it doesn't matter. I don't think there's any way Skubal alone makes them a World Series team. They can coast into their Wild Card spot without giving up the farm for Skubal. And honestly I'm not sure whey we're even discussing him ... unless they find takers for every bad contract on this team, there's no way Pohlad is signing off on paying an actual ace.
  13. I guess we've reached the "we couldn't make a trade, so here's a warm and fuzzy story instead" portion of the season. But hey, at least they're diving in their own dumpster for a change.
  14. Sorry, Captain Math. I guess 2.3 is WAY bigger than 2.
  15. I admitted it was tongue in cheek, but that doesn't matter I think it's stupid and unfunny ... much like his dreadful 'stache. However, I prefer his "sense of humor" and awful facial hair over his pitching.
  16. Would you do it for two years of Skubal though? Because I can't imagine he's signing an extension before hitting the market. His departure could happen about the same time as Jenkins' MLB debut. If they didn't win a WS in those 2+ years, it could be a long decade watching Jenkins tee off on the next wave of Twins starters.
  17. I haven't been this excited since Jaime Garcia!!! I hope this move the needle half as much as that trade.
  18. I can't express in words that are suitable for families and work just how cringeworthy this "announcement" is. It's things like this that cause me to dislike players (even if this is being tongue in cheek). I hope the Mets, or whomever, enjoy their Pohlad-sponsored batting practice.
  19. Where are the trophies from this "successful run"?
  20. So you'd like the fan base to continue blindly supporting the team and settling for mediocrity year after year. Got it. This is the kind of attitude that proves to sports owners that they don't actually need to deliver titles to be beloved in this (or virtually any) town - simply do the bare minimum, make the playoffs, win a game here or there, hoist a division or wild card banner, cash checks, repeat. The teams are asking for more every day - increased ticket, food, merch, parking costs, etc. It's time for the fans to ask for more and hold the owners/teams accountable by not filling the stadiums and buying the merch.
  21. AJ was always known as the guy you hate when he's on the other team. Bauer seems to be the guy that you hate when he's on your team. That, combined with the PR circus that would follow, makes him a poor investment, even at the prorated league minimum.
