Can you give some examples? All of your posts have stated the Twins have missed out on international talent. What talent are you talking about? Ohtani wants to be on the West Coast, so there really wasn't anything the Twins could do there. The Twins offered more money to Kevin Maitan but he signed with the Angels because the Twins have 3 or 4 legit prospects at SS in the minors. Again, not something the Twins could do there. What other international prospects that are "great" have the Twins missed on?

I look at yesterday's deals as adding depth to an already good looking draft class.

The core of every great Twins team came up through the system. A key trade or two, and free agent here or there rounds out the mix, but these are rarely high profile adds.

Building up the system is the best recipe for long-term success.

Through that lens, the FO is doing quite well.

Do you really believe this? The Twins were not built to make a championship run this year. Another bat and relief pitcher weren't getting them past the Yankees, and certainly not past anyone else.

If they made the moves you suggested they likely end up with the same result, and they're in worse shape today. I don't even see how this is debatable.

Hmmm, one year ago we were all looking back at a 59 win disaster of a season. Now after bringing in a new front office and an on field improvement of 26 wins there seems to be a great deal of discontent from many “serious” fans. There seems to be an emerging view that unless this front office somehow brings in a superstar starting pitcher such as Darvish, many will be disappointed by the “failure”. With a bit of circuitous logic, I guess it is a healthy sign that fans have moved on so quickly to greatly elevated expectations. I do hope we get some high impact pitching help, but regardless I am thrilled with the new FO’s fresh approach.

I don't know if they are crushing it.  However, I do like how they managed the roster (after about half the year last year).  I don't wanna rip on Terry or what he did but his second stint wasn't proactive more reactive.

These guys are doing what they should when it comes to roster management.  They also appear to have an eye for the future.

I think what many of us want to see is what they will do in free agency and then what they do with the roster.  Nick, I do have to agree what they have done so far, after a year of assessing, is positive.  I'm all in.

2 Gold Gloves, a consensus Defensive Player of the Year, Manager of the Year. The thrill of the playoffs (albeit a quick thrill). Awesome. I really enjoyed the 2017 season. Thank you to the Twins organization from the biggest Twins fan in North Carolina. See you in Fort Myers in March.

I think a reasonable argument can be made for cutting Phil Hughes loose. I think it is unlikely he is looked at as a future contributor and he is a sunk cost regardless. If he is only improbable at best as a future asset, why use a roster spot on him?

A refreshing perspective. This view may not play well with those who want to attribute no credit to Falvey, Levine, or for that matter Molitor. With the current leadership in the front office and on the field it has felt like things makes sense again. Even at the times when I strongly disagree with their decisions, I can follow their thought process. The vibe has changed with this team and it has changed for the better. Young Players like Buxton, Rosario, Sano, and Polanco are reaching their potential and in the case of veterans such as Mauer, Gibson, Escobar, and Belisle, they have raised their performance from the recent past. Players added such as Gee, Castro, and Gimenez have brought upgrades. Youngsters like Hildenberger and Busenitz who were fringe prospects have flourished. The vibe has changed with this team. Time to give credit where credit is due even when it doesn’t fit our biases or theories.

there's an intimidation factor that, IMO, traces back to Ron Gardenhire and his quotes before every Yankee series about how perfect his team was going to need to be.

Molitor, same way. When your pitching staff treats Greg Bird like Babe Ruth, you are playing scared.
