  1. I like that the discussion seems to be mostly around how to keep the most talent available, instead of keeping guys without any talent period.
  2. There are hitting fundamentals, there are fielding fundamentals, there are base running fundamentals and pitching fundamentals. Hopefully they will be working on them heavily throughout the system.
  3. This may make it likelier that trades of Paddock, Vazquez and Castro will be made to keep the payroll down.
  4. I've thought the same thing. It probably won't be with Minnesota. I would bet on Pittsburgh though.
  5. Add in Keaschall with Tommy john, Prielipp with Tommy John +, Canterino and any number of other pitchers with TJ. Every year I keep thinking that this is the year the injury bad luck stops. BUt it just seems to go on.
  6. After taking another look at the Saints starters, there may not even be room for Varland in the rotation there.
  7. He'll be a piece of a great triple A rotation this year. Should be fun to watch. Morris, Festa, Mathews, Lewis, Raya, Varland, and Adams. Won't be much room for any fast risers this year.
  8. It may not be until 27, but I could see Prielipp as a regular in the rotation. He needs to face professional hitters to learn how to succeed in the majors.
  9. The team currently has 6-8 pitchers starting from high a to 3A that won't all be in the rotation. Most will wind up in the bullpen or traded. Varland might make it as a reliever and at times has looked very good. I agree with several other posters that this could be his last year with the Twins. I think the decision comes down to bullpen or another team.
  10. Not a big fan so far. Upside of a double A utility player. Seems like they get too many wrong picks from this part of the draft. Should have been a gimme pick for a real good lottery player. High, upside, major league all-star, low floor basement doesn't get to advance A ball.
  11. As of today, anyway, Miranda is the best option for first base. But just like too many guys on the roster, he will be playing a position to which he has very little experience. However, its possible that by the end of the year he will have plenty of experience there.
  12. Wallner has split his outfield time for the Twins pretty evenly between LF and RF. He only played right field in 33 games last year. I think you should the guy sum slack, if he is playing defense the same way in 3 years find another spot for him. But, right field was always the spot for the worst defender best hitter on a team. Next to first base. He would be a big target at first.
  13. I would plan on a future infield of Lewis First Base, Keaschall/Eeles Second Base, Lee Third Base, and Correa Short Stop. By future infield, I mean the second half of the upcoming season. They can spend the first half fitting guys into these position and letting Keaschall, Eeles see if they are future major leaguers. I think they are. Miranda, Castro, Martin and Julian can be utility players or trade bait.
  14. Signing the lefty was a move we liked. Now I hope the clearing a space for him will be a move we really like.
  15. They could cut someone, or may there be a trade in the works that hasn't been announced yet. How long do they have before they need to put someone on the roster? He has to pass a physical first, could that be put off for a week?
  16. I hope we extend pitchers. Not for 6-8 years, but 3 or possibly 4, but no more.
  17. "If" Paddack is moved to the pen, that would increase the amount spent on the bullpen from $12mil to $19mil. That more than 50% increase on the pen should put in right there with the best in baseball.
  18. Its kind of hard to squeeze 13-14 names into a 10 player list But for the best 10 this list works, I expect to see all of them in the majors by the end of 26. Except where will they all play?
  19. I don't think the Twins are in a position to outbid other teams for Cease. They could out bid some "also ran" if nobody else was trying to acquire Cease. But to deal a lot of prospect capital without a supporting budget for at least a division winner, could set the team back several years. I've seen too many deals where it was better to be the loser in the trade competition than the winner.
  20. Looks like the Twins got a lot of bang for their bucks. The Dodgers probably spent about a billion $ more. Maybe about 1 1/2 billion difference. In other words the appx selling price of the team right now. Looking at this I am amazed the Twins managed to be this close.
