  1. The Twins have announced that Opening Day will be pushed back to April 8th.
  2. You're probably right. I got rambling a bit, I think. I'm with you on Kepler and his contract. I value defense more than many, but there's going to be a time, likely in the not so distant future, where Kepler will be expendable one way or another. Especially so if he's not hitting and someone else is. That person hasn't emerged yet though.
  3. I think he has a pretty decent chance to be pretty effective in that setup as well.
  4. I'm guessing that there's little chance that they pick up that option regardless unless he's playing at a Buxton level. They've got soooo many corner type players to fill that void, and as you mentioned in another post, Larnach wasn't a bad in RF. That said, Larnach needs to hit too.
  5. It's okay. The FO probably appreciates everyone having to take the same test again. Grades should improve the second time around, right?
  6. With such an uncanny likeness, I think I'm going to need a side by side comparison before I will truly believe you.
  7. I can't unsee this...
  8. I mean, this seems like as good a reason as any! I'm on board! With our collective wills, it's bound to work!
  9. That's fair. I just don't think they have enough unless the prospects step up, which I can actually see happening. There's not a lot of depth there either, which concerns me. But I wouldn't be shocked if they get 80+ wins. I think that's more likely than a win total in the 60s.
  10. You must feel that they've got enough pitching to keep that sort of pace? Or do you think they'll still bring in another arm or two?
  11. I'm still in the 70-79 camp. I just think it's closer to 79 than 70 than I did 2 weeks ago. Joe Ryan being the Opening Day starter is an interesting pick, but I think it's a preview of what is to come for the season.
  12. I asked this question two weeks ago, and the team has since added Chris Archer and Carlos Correa. Is that enough to move the needle for you? Have any other players jumped out in Spring Training that have changed your opinion?
  13. Interesting. I guess in a season where they're largely rolling the dice anyway, may as well start on day 1!
  14. I think they've salvaged a decent offseason, but they still lack the pitching to really matter in the grand scheme of things. I think there's too much reliance on young arms to be truly and consistently competitive in the regular season let alone the playoffs. And the logjam of corner hit first types only got worse by adding Sanchez. B-/C+ I think they've set themselves up fairly well going forward, but not really for this season.
  15. Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out why there was a solar eclipse every fifth day last year. Probably just a coincidence ?.
  16. If it's going to happen, the odds are certainly the best they've been in some time.
  17. Definitely agree there. It would be nice to have him in a better mental state confidence-wise too.
  18. True, with Sanchez on the roster. Which continues to baffle me for that very reason.
  19. I imagine this means that Larnach hasn't clearly won a starting spot where he'd get consistent, any plentiful, plate appearances.
  20. The Reds are a team that just jettisoned quite a bit of talent. I'm happy for him and hope that he does well, but there's context to this. And it's far too early to be judging or second guessing how Lewis vs Greene debate turns out.
  21. The Ghost of Nostradamus should write sports predictions on the internet!
  22. This is the very reason why I think Lewis is such an important piece for this team. He's athletic enough to play anywhere. He'd be an obvious guy to slide into an injury opening at CF or SS. He's one of those guys that you find a spot to play him. That's all assuming he pans out, obviously. But he can be a game changer for this organization if he does.
  23. Back end guy with potential to be a bit more for not a lot of cash. Sounds like a Twins pitching acquisition... That said, I don't mind the move. He's probably got enough to keep the team from rushing a prospect, yet not enough dough invested to keep him around if he doesn't.
  24. In order for this team to compete, and be legitimate competitors, the younger guys need to step up. That includes Larnach. While I'm still not overly concerned given his youth, he's still got to prove that he's real. He's had a promising spring, but he needs to carry that into the regular season before I'll get too excited. With all of the hit first corner types in the 40-man, and in the larger organization, some of them need to play well enough to be useful or to get traded.
