  1. Could be both. You said that Toronto doesn't blow away TC in your mind. I simply noted that perhaps it does in Berrios'. Everyone likes different things and has other priorities.
  2. It's not a preconceived notion if the mindset evolves from the actual negotiations.
  3. Realism has to enter into the conversation at some point. When it becomes abundantly clear one side doesn't have interest in an extension, the mindset must adjust.
  4. I wonder how much he has left?
  5. I'm actually wondering if the A's do that deal. Lewis hasn't played in two years and SWR has consistency issues, and Urshela is coming off a down year - which could get worse moving from the very hitter friendly Yankee stadium to the polar opposite Oakland Coliseum. That said, just because SS would be filled by Story, assuming Lewis is surplus just because of that seems foolhardy if you believe that he can play SS. An athlete like that can play anywhere - including CF. I'm one that feels Lewis is pretty important to this team. If he pans out, that's a game changer along with Martin and Buxton. Which is why, in this scenario, I'd say no. I don't think it moves the needle enough to counter the loss of Lewis and SWR for a longer run than 2024. I also believe that this team has internal options to fill in at 3B, including Lewis and/or Martin. I'd be more interested in going after Manaea on his own, but that's a much different trade scenario.
  6. Local guy, Brad Hand to the Phillies.
  7. As frustrating as that is, it's exactly what I expected to happen. But, there's still time.
  8. Sanchez seems redundant unless he actually does catch, which I agree, we don't want. So that leaves Sanchez at DH, which this team already has plenty of in house options for, namely Sano. I have to imagine that he gets flipped.
  9. Nelson Cruz is headed to Washington. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33497939/nelson-cruz-reaches-1-year-deal-washington-nationals-source-says
  10. I have to imagine that something is in the works, whether it be with Story or something else. Still some offseason left to make changes to the roster.
  11. If this FO has taught me anything, it's that the offseason isn't over until it's over.
  12. I've liked what I've seen from Jeffers, generally, when he's gotten consistent playing time. But I haven't seen enough to say that I'm sold he'll continue that way. That's where I hesitate with this.
  13. They must be pretty confident that Jeffers will take off with regular playing time. This seems like more of a "future" move rather than a "now" move, IMO.
  14. Apparently there's talk about holding a home run derby in lieu of extra innings to decide the ASG. Personally, I wish they'd just leave the game alone. Let it be the exhibition game it's intended to be. It's the most "real" all star game in the major sports. Quit messing with it. Nobody cares how it ends. It should just be a showcase for the stars of the game. That said, what are your thoughts?
  15. Nice! (Full disclosure, the Cardinals are my NL squad)
  16. God...did the Twins bring him back?!?!?! The suspense is killing me!
  17. Rodon to the Giants.
  18. Kershaw reportedly back to the Dodgers, where he belongs. I have a soft spot for stars that spend their entire career in one uniform, so I hope he's able to do that.
  19. Thought a single thread to document signings around the league in this crazy resumption of an offseason would be a good idea.
  20. The team doesn't quite have enough of those types to field an entire starting lineup of them yet, so this would make perfect sense. The more the merrier, I always say.
  21. Pineda makes the most sense to bring back, whether I like it or not. Fills a need, familiarity and fits the bill of signing on a budget.
