  1. Acording to mlbtradrumors.com, Jax asked to be traded after he became aware of the big selloff.
  2. Interesting article -- https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/minnesota-twins If it's true then I don't blame the player.
  3. Maybe he has decided to flee the country rather than join the Twins.
  4. For those who are angry with the Pohlads, one option is to boycott all of their businesses. It appears that their portfolio is fairly vast -- https://www.pohladcompanies.com/businesses#:~:text=United Properties has been creating, innovative mindset focused on stability. In particular, it appears that they own a lot of rental real estate -- https://www.uproperties.com/ I would not want to live in one of their buildings or rent office space from them or put my aged parent in one of their assisted living facilities. As for attending Twins games, I would not go unless I can find a T-shirt or make a sign that expresses my dismay about what the owners have done. Actions should have consequences, even for billionaires.
  5. I vastly prefer the TK way. I hate seeing poor fundamentals, and have seen too much of that under Rocco.
  6. CBS Sports is giving the Twins an "F" for this trade, viewing it as a salary dump, and giving Houston an "A" for spending to improve their team -- https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/carlos-correa-trade-grades-astros-score-a-for-stunning-deadline-deal-twins-get-their-salary-dump/ My sense is that this would have been a good deal for the Twins even if there were no other moves at the deadline, because Correa is worth a lot less than the balance due to him, but I am jealous of the Houston fans whose owner is willing to overpay to improve the team. Like many, my biggest gripe is the Varland trade.
  7. The point was that Beane developed major advances in player evaluation that were subsequently emulated by most/all other teams. My sense is that the A's did far better as a result, but Beane did not have enough funds available to win a WS.
  8. Maybe one goal for the balance of this season is to land a high draft pick next year?
  9. Based on the movie and what I have read, Beane and his tech guy developed more advanced metrics to evaluate players and find "bargains" that gave the A's more bang for the limited dollars that the team had available.
  10. CBS Sports says: "You could easily argue that Carlos Correa is no longer an impact player at this point. He is having the worst season of is career, after all. The Astros did bring back their former franchise savior though, essentially taking him on as a salary dump in a trade with the Twins, who went scorched earth on the roster. Minnesota is heavily subsidizing Correa, eating $33 million of the $104 million remaining on his contract, but still, Houston is taking a lot of money and a lot of years for a player who appears to be in decline. This is risky, for sure."
  11. Joe Ryan not under contract? Bailey Ober?
  12. According to CBS Sports -- "Now 30, Correa is having the worst season of his career, slashing .267/.319/.386 with seven home runs in 93 games. Between that and declining defense, he is a 0.1 WAR player this year. Correa is owed $92 million from 2026-28 with four club options covering 2029-32. It is unclear whether the Twins ate any money to facilitate the trade." I would guess that the Twins will be eating at least $30 million of his future compensation, and I am OK with that.
  13. According to CBS Sports -- "Now 30, Correa is having the worst season of his career, slashing .267/.319/.386 with seven home runs in 93 games. Between that and declining defense, he is a 0.1 WAR player this year. Correa is owed $92 million from 2026-28 with four club options covering 2029-32. 14. I think that the new owners might pay for a limo for Mauer. I also think that Mauer might be willing to take a week here and there to give back to the world by teaching young players how to be great.
  15. I believe that Correa is fading fast and this would be a good move even if the Twins have to eat some of his salary. I also don't see this as discouraging prospective free agents, because Correa would be approving the reunion with his old team. Arguably the Twins would be doing him a favor by allowing him an opportunity to get another ring.
  16. If Falver makes this happen then I will forgive him for his other recent questionable trades.
  17. CBS is giving the Phillies an "A" and the Twins a "B". https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/jhoan-duran-trade-grades-phillies-get-a-in-deal-for-flame-throwing-closer-twins-betting-on-young-catcher/
  18. I hope that the Twins find a way to make this deal. It seems to me that Correa is unlikely to be worth the remaining value of his contract, and based on what I have seen his defense has been declining. Even if this is a salary dump, I am OK with it. Hopefully new owners will come in and use the savings wisely.
  19. Trade Correa and his huge salary to a wealthy team that will take him if the Twins throw in Ryan?
  20. If the prospective new owners are watching then the price should drop by at least $100 million after this debacle.
  21. What if the Cubs were willing to take on Correa and his salary to sweeten the deal? Is there some other big market team who would view Correa as an upgrade and be willing to take on his remaining contract to get Ryan, or maybe Duran or Jax?
  22. My friends who are Dodgers' fans would be happy to give up Rushing. As stated by other posters, he may not stick as a catcher.
