  1. I wonder what the best seats were selling for on Stubhub just before gametime.
  2. Moderator note -- it's OK to disagree but it's not OK to be disrespectful.
  3. You had me until the bone spur. The Twins seem snakebit with players who had injuries when acquired.
  4. I agree with you Cory, but that would have made for a much longer article. I believe that the intent was to focus on likely destinations for Twins players if the FO were to blow up the roster. I found it interesting, and I especially like the idea of trading Lewis to the Angels if the return is fair. Lewis is from Southern California, has friends and family there and played well at Anaheim Stadium this year. I think that Lewis would be very attractive to the Angels and they might trade a top prospect to get him.
  5. I am hoping for someone who stresses fundamentals and work ethic. I hate sloppy defense and baserunning. I love mandatory batting practice and fielding drills,
  6. This is from the Twins' website: "Twins president of baseball and business operations Derek Falvey said Tuesday that it is his “expectation” that star right-handers Pablo López and Joe Ryan will both be on the club when the 2026 season begins, but also granted that that is not a certainty at the current time." https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/derek-falvey-expects-joe-ryan-pablo-lopez-on-twins-in-2026 More false hope to encourage season ticket holders to renew?
  7. I believe that we agree that Rocco's performance has been poor for years. Why wait so long to fire him? Why fire him after giving him an extension that now looks like a foolish, costly move. My sense is that scapegoating was a material part of the equation. That said, I agree with you that his performance standing alone provided ample reason to fire him.
  8. I think that this is a good point, but these other teams did not have Correa.
  9. I find it difficult to evaluate a lot of this, because I don't know how much control Rocco had over rosters, player development and game strategy. Do we know for sure that Rocco had the final decisions about who would play on a given date, what positions and how they would develop? Is it possible that some algorithm impacted or controlled game strategy regarding base stealing? The more Rocco was a puppet for the FO, the more I feel sorry for him being blamed for major mistakes of the FO and ownership Extending Rocco then canning him seems like the latest example for the proposition that the FO and Pohlad family are not good at business decisions. All of that said, I cannot stand little league defense, and I blame Rocco for that.
  10. Someone from the Brewers organization?
  11. That seems a bit extreme. I think that the Twins would probably win the World Series in at least 5 of the next 10 years IF the only other teams in the league were the White Sox, the Nationals, the Rockies, Sacramento and the Pirates. It seems clear to me that at least a few organizations are worse.
  12. There should be a parade on the day that the Pohlads are out.
  13. I believe that there were many captains who would have loved captaining the Titanic right up until the moment that it was clearly doomed. I believe that the TOP candidates will pass because it makes sense for them to wait for a decent opportunity to succeed, and because the Pohlads are cheap and won't pay a top salary.
  14. I would assume that the Rays saw some of this and made a decent effort to fix it.
  15. Rumor has it that the Pirates have offered to exchange managers with the Twins in order to "win" the better odds for a top pick.
  16. I believe that the key constant in that equation is that the team has had the same owners during this period.
  17. ` If he was tipping pitches then the Twins coaches should have detected that.
  18. Great night for some of the young players, and I love beating the Yankees. Best win in a long time.
  19. Sometimes the children of a successful businessman turn out to be horrible at business. Which of these is better: 10,000 fans with average revenue of $30 per fan, or 30,000 fans with average revenue of $12 per fan? And I'm putting no value on the potential value of children becoming long-term fans. I would suggest a promotion where all seats in the expensive areas behind home plate and near the field are offered at 90% off for one night on a first come first serve basis, so that a lot more people can partake (at least once) in the splendor of sitting there. I hate seeing great seats go empty -- what a waste. There are some good ideas in this thread, but the fact that we have to post here suggests that the current generation of Pohlads are not good at operating a baseball franchise.
