I don't mean to take anything away from Machado, but both those HR's tonight were total hangers. http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=23790027
I guess he has that "effectively wild" thing going for him. Teams will start being more patient and making him pay for those walks eventually if he can't show better control. He has major league stuff but not major league command(yet).
I'm one of those who feels like my overall knowledge of the Twins and baseball in general is pretty good, but I've never been much of a writer. Thats why I don't do my own blogs. I did one when I first joined and that was it.
What??? Kyle Gibson got the surgery last September and he started pitching competitively on July 10. If Wimmers had it done in April he could've been ready to pitch by opening day next year. The Twins took at least 3 months of valuable development time from him. And as for saying you don't do surgery for ache or pain...Yeah I am jumping to conclusions here but I'm pretty confident that the MRI is going to show no improvement on the UCL and they will eventually decide to do the surgery. Its just too predictable...
Rosario goes 3-5 with 3 doubles today. Hopefully this is his last game in the GCL and he will head back to Beloit or even stay in FM and join the Miracle.
Thats the million $ question isn't it. There seems to be a reletively unknown player every year who has a breakout season in the Appy league. It will certainly be worth following him next year when he plays with Beloit.
The Etwins lead the Appy league in both pitching (2.77 ERA) and offense(.295). They have scored 256 runs, the next best team is 193. Thier 2.77 ERA is well better than the 2nd place of 3.38!
This and the fact that he has started to hit for some power is making me like him more and more. I would love to see him promoted sooner than later to see what he can do in a league that isn't so hitter friendly.
