  1. Yep, but unless we get someone better like Shields for example, Diamond will be the starting pitcher on April 1st.
  2. Chris Colabello- I guess he'll play in Rochester next year. Not a prospect, but a pretty interesting player. If the Twins suffer an injury or 2 involving guys who can play 1st base, it would be pretty cool to see Chris get a shot.
  3. What do those two things have anything to do with the topic at hand? Yes, Mike Trout would be in the majors by now with the Twins (assuming he produced similarly in the minors-plus no injuries), it's really not that difficult of a concept. The Twins front office isn't the bumbling bunch of idiots that geniuses like Thrylos and others on this board try to make them out to be. yes they are.... plain and simple You're the one who thinks that Ken Griffey jr would not have made the bigs until he was 25 if he was a member of the Twins, so you're opinion on this subject is pretty much worthless as far as I'm concerned.
  4. Hmmm...I wonder why you didn't include mlb's list?
  5. Tough to argue with some of your points. I guess my main point is that while the Pohlads may not spend money like we wish they would, at least they aren't taking revenue from other teams (like the Marlins have and soon will again) and put it in thier pockets. Not sure how many fans the Marlins are gonna have left. I do feel sorry for any loyal fans that might remain with that team. Just like a feel bad for anyone that was a loyal Expos fan before Loria alienated that fanbase and ran the team into the ground.
  6. Totally disagree...The Pohlads are not my favorite choice for owners either, but I would take them any day over Loria. Loria is a shameless pig and a thief. He's a leach on major League baseball and if I were another owner I would take any steps necessary to have him removed as owner of the Marlins
  7. Evidently the Cubs didn't check with thrylos98's source. I heard talks broke down when Baker got wind of thrylos leaking inside information. Seriously though, I'm bummed to hear that Baker left and even more bummed to hear that this is the going rate for pitching. I don't think this is going to be the conventional thing we'll see. One has to think the Cubs overpaid quite a bit to pry him away from the Twins, seeing as how much he liked it here. I really don't mind losing him. He's a huge question mark after TJ and the Twins are not in a position to gamble rotation wise. i read this as scott baker believes he has a better chance in 2013 to go to the playoffs with the cubs then with the twins, you see a patteren? nathan cuddy,kubel,thome,baker....the home town heros are bailing on this sinking ship..... sinking?...you mean, sunken
  8. I hope his days in rookie ball are behind him. He has nothing left to prove. Either start him in Cedar Rapids or maybe extended spring training and he can join the Kernals in May or June(this would keep his innings down for his 1st full season of pro ball). If he dominates the midwest league he could be put on the fast track in 2014 and have the chance to play at a couple levels.
  9. The fact that people from every team fanbase have accused KLAW of hating thier team shows how unbiased he really is.
  10. Who do you propose we should listen to then? I'm sure KLaw has talked to multiple scouts who've seen Rosario play to couple with his own observations. It's not perfect, but it's among the best information sources available to those of us on the outside. I agree. This is one area where I disagree with KLAW. A lot of Rosario's errors came early in the season I believe. His defense got sharper as the season when on and of course he is very athletic. I think he will have no problem at 2nd.
  11. No. He's a schmuck. It's fine to be smart, but he's so sanctimonious it rubs the wrong way. Thats probably why he doesnt have another job in the MLB.... he can be a dick, he's a very talented guy and its very tough to predict prospects. He could have a job in MLB if he wanted.
  12. I've heard him use the term "above average regular" a few times when talking about Kepler. Another thing he mentions in the chat about Kepler is how he is hopeful that he succeeds because it could further promote the sport in his home country. I totally agree...
  13. I would offer any one of our prospects straight up for Bauer (Buxton and Berrios not eligable of course). I would not offer 2 top 5's or even a top 5 and a top 10. Perhaps a top 5(not Sano) plus Levi Michael, who despite his unproductive season in Fort Myers, should still have value as a prospect.
  14. Revere straight up would not bring much value. He could add value as part of a package though...if that makes sense.
  15. I went to Appleton, WI for a couple games last year in June. Obviously Sano was my main point of focus. The 1st thing I noticed was that he was seeing about 70% breaking balls(no joke). The problem was, he wasn't giving pitchers a reason to throw him anything else. He had a couple AB's where he looked foolish hacking away a pitches in the dirt. His defense looked fine when I was there. He did miss a hot shot that short hopped him and it was ruled a hit. The 2nd game I saw was pretty good for him. He hit a solid line drive single in his 1st AB. Struck out his 2nd AB. His 3rd AB was with the bases loaded and 2 outs. This was the one AB where he actually looked like a real professional. He quickly found himself in an 0-2 hole. He took a high fastball. The 1-2 pitch was an ankle high breaking ball. Sano flinched at it but laid off. He then fouled off a high fastball. Finally the pitcher made the mistake Sano was looking for, a belt high hanger that was launched about 430 ft for a grand slam. I'm actually glad to know that Sano has been seeing so many breaking balls, it can only help him get better at recognizing these pitches and laying off the bad ones. Next year the pitchers will only get better and the FSL is a pitchers league. I still expect Sano to hit for good power though.
  16. One mistake that you made Mnfan, was giving Credence to the prospect rankings submitted by mlb.com. Looking at the list, there are a lot of odd rankings 6-20. IMO Seth Stohs and several others on this site are way better at ranking prospects.
  17. 69 games is NOT a small sample size for the minor leagues.
  18. It would be ridiculous for Arcia to start in AA. If that happens I will be more willing to submit to those who accuse the Twins of being far too conservative with prospects. Honestly, there is absolutely nothing for him to prove in AA. Also, to the author of this blog, our midwest league affiliate is Cedar Rapids, not Quad Cities.
  19. Or have 2 years and 440 innings of very good pitching, then throw him a qualifying offer at the end... Or just resign him...like right away... Ding ding ding!
  20. I still think Benson could be a pretty good player. But, I don't really see him in the Twins' future. If he plays well in the minors, I think he'll be traded. If he continues to struggle and get injured, he will just be released eventually.
  21. Assuming the Angels do not pick up the option on Haren, do you guys think they will make him a qualifying offer?
  22. No, Cal Ripken would not have been the iron man. But to say Griffey would not have made his debut before 25 is preposterous. Would he have debuted at 19? Maybe not, but like Mauer, he would have been up before he could legally drink.
  23. You had some good points going until this part. Please tell me you were grossly exaggerating just to make a point.
  24. One of my favorite things about Buehrle has always been how fast he works. Seriously, whats worse than a pitcher who takes 45 seconds between pitches. But honestly, I just don't know how interested I'd be. His age isn't really a factor for me because of how he throws, but I just don't know if I would want him for the price that he could cost.
