    Yeah the futures game should be the least demand of the 3. Not saying it will be cheap on stub hub but definitely cheaper than the derby or the all star game.

    Good luck to the Elizabethton Twins on thier 1st playoff game today. Finished the regular season with the best record(43-22) in the Appy League!

    I've heard that Berrios's chang-up is average. But watch this video about 32 seconds in he throws what appears to be a change up. Tons of movement on that pitch.

    In Rhett Bolinger's recent article about September call ups, TR said this..."The types of guys we're talking about are guys who have earned the promotion from what they've done at Triple-A or Double-A" If he truely means this, Chris Colabello should get a shot. Becuase of his position, it would be hard to find him AB's. But the guy at least deserves a taste. I hope we resign him and he can play for Rochester next year.

    It's true that numbers don't always translate and that Slama could just have figured out AAA hitters. He still posts a lot of walks and that may be a concern. But conversely, if a hitter was hitting, say .344/.463/.661 in AAA, you'd be wanting to see what he could do in the majors, right? Even if it was only sixty games and his recent few opportunities in the majors were relatively poor. It's also true that Slama has become somewhat of a lightning rod for the Twins talent evaluation, possibly past the point of reason, but how effective has that talent evaluation and their methods of doing so been in the last couple of years? When you say Parmelee's recent few opportunities in the majors was reletively poor, I think that was the wrong choice of words. He was not very good this year in 108 AB's. He was very good in his shorter stint last year as a September call up. Also, while Parmelee does deserve to play in the bigs, its widely understood that he is currently being blocked and would not get many AB's up here, therefore he stays in Rochester. As for Slama, he is being blocked by...Jeff Gray.

    Slama gave up a hit and struck out only 1 of the 7 batters he faced today. I think he's losing it.

    Reading the last paragraph in this sentence, normally I would call that an extreme view reserved for the most cinical of Twins fans. But honestly, the case of Anthony Slama has me thinking on the same lines. If I were to meet Terry Ryan I think the 1st thing I would ask is "what the hell does Anthony Slama have to do to get a chance with the big club?"

    A few notes on the GCL Twins from Righty8383... :Not sure what happened to Dereck Rodriguez. He was sitting well above .300 for most of the season until a couple weeks ago. In his last 35 AB's, he picked up just 4 hits and struck out 17 times. Finishing the season with a .263 BA and 3 HR's. :18 year old Felix Jorge(0-3, 2.34) from the DR did not have a great final start but had an overall good season. He struck out 37 and walked 12 over 34.2 innings. :Randy Rosario(2-1, 1.64) is another dominican 18 year old who had a good year. His walk rate was a little high. He struck out 42 and walked 19 over 38.1 innings. He gave up just 19 hits. :Taiwanese pitcher Kuo Hua Lo(2-0, 1.13) pitched the most innings(39.2) and had the best WHIP(0.78) on the team. 33 strike outs, just 7 walks and 24 hits allowed. Pretty good for his 1st year of pro ball in America. :Last years 15th round pick out of Puerto Rico, Josue Montanez(2-0, 0.36) had the best ERA. He also had a good WHIP of 0.84. In 25 innings he struck out 30 and walked 8. He is 20 so a bit old for the GCL but pretty good numbers. Local boy Austin Malinowski(3-2, 2.27) seems to have good numbers at 1st glance, but he gave up more hits(35) than innings pitched(31.2). That is not good especially in the GCL. This led to a high WHIP of 1.45. Not much to speak of offensively on this team other than Aderlin Mejia. He hit .324 with a .788 OPS. At 20 he is a little old for the GCL. The most impressive stat for him is just 13 strike outs in 170 AB's. Thats almost unheard of.

    This is one of those misconceptions that you'll never be able to put to bed. Kind of like the notion that Twins hitters are instructed to slap the ball the other way.

    The only article I could find on him was in Spanish. I gathered that he is from Mexico, 18 years old and has a 94-96 MPH fastball.

    Nice to see Rochester get some runs going in the 7th inning. They had been shutout for 24 straight innings up to that point.

    Two things that bug me about this, maybe Diamond got a little excited and threw it high by accident, but he does need to get that ball down. And second, nothing more embarrassing than trying to hit someone and missing.

    This is a big reason I hated some of the early college relief picks, Especially Bard. These moves reeked of penny pinching.

    In the 1st inning, Coco Crisp did a fake bunt with a 3-0 count. That reminds me, the little League World Series is on.

    The fact that Jim Bowden is involved in this piece pretty much makes it worthless for me. I'm not trying to sound bitter about the Twins' ranking I just really think Bowden is an awful baseball writer/annalist.

    I hated the Luke Bard pick at 42. I just can not justify taking him over Mitch Brown or several other starting pitchers that were avaliable. I had never heard of Berrios so I didn't know how to feel at the time he was picked. But for obvious reasons I am pretty happy with that pick at the moment. Adam Walker was a pretty good pick. I'm not sure if he'll be able to make enough contact to make it at the highest level but its nice to have another power hitter in the system. Zach Jones is another good one. The guy can get it up near triple digits.

    Thanks Irb49. I figured he must have been hurt somehow. Hopefully its minor. But why did they have to give up the DH? Was there just nobody else on the bench?
