  1. 4 triples on the year for Goodrum already!
  2. I would like to think that some of his fly outs are pretty well hit
  3. To fly outs to center, a fly out to left and a strike out looking
  4. I don't know how hard he's hitting the ball but he has only struck out once in 13 AB's so far, so bad luck could be a factor in his 0-13 start. Otherwise I agree with you. Hew has to start doing something if he is to maintain his high prospect status.
  5. I made mention in the comments section of ESPN about Brewers fans stuffing ballots. A few Brewers fans who probably assumed I was a Pirates fan told me to stop whining LOL. I'm OK with TF getting beat by Camden Yards but Miller beating PNC is preposeterous. Its not like the Brewers have a huge fan base (by huge I mean top 5) but they have a way of coming out and voting in large numbers for these sorts of things. Last year, that catch by Revere was "best of the best" for a long time until a play by Ryan Braun knocked him off. The play by Braun was great but no way should have beat Revere's catch. Just another example of Ballot stuffing.
  6. Boyd gets out of a 1st inning jam with a bases loaded line drive double play
  7. Looks like the GCL Twins decided to go with Landa instead of Maniowski to start today.
  8. He has been OK in years past but this is the 1st year he has dominated as a pro. Given his age and years of pro ball, he should not have started the year in Beloit to begin with. That is my issue...
  9. If my count is correct, Tonkin has now struck out the last 10 batters he has faced. He now has 53 K's in 39 innings. Again I ask, what the hell is he doing in Beloit?! The 2008 draftee has played there the last couple years and had no business even starting the year in Beloit.
  10. Torrens turned 16 a little over a month ago.
  11. The 1st half of this question can be answered in the draft signings thread.
  12. What the bleep is Michael Tonkin still doing in Beloit? Not only should he be promoted, he should skip FM and go straight to New Britain. He should not have started the year in Beloit in the first place. I don't know how hard he throws or what kind of stuff he has, but 50 K's and 9 BB's in 38 innings speaks for itself.
  13. Yeah, that was exciting. It was a no doubter too. I was not optimistic when he fell behind 0-2. Sano took a couple balls to even the count before the pitcher hung a breaking ball. As soon as he hit it I made it clear I was not cheering for the home team. The wind was blowing out but it did not matter for 3 of the 4 HR's that were hit in this game. Unfortunately for the Snappers, the wind was involved when the Timber Rattlers' Brandon Macias hit a 3 run shot in the 7th to tie the game. If there was no wind this ball wouldn't have made it to the warning track, but what are you gonna do... It was not all good for Sano, he struck out twice and hit into a 1-6-3 DP in the 9th. But the GS certainly makes up for that. Hopefully I'll be able to make another road trip next year. I would really be temped if Buxton is on the team but I have a feeling he will be playing for the Etwins next year.
  14. I was at yesterday's game. I had my wife and 2 small children with me so I couldn't make all the observations I wanted too. I will be attending today's game by myself. Of course, I made sure I was watching when Rosario and Sano came up. Without actually counting(today I may keep count), I would say Sano got about 75% breaking balls. I see no reason for this not to continue until Sano gives them a reason. The first AB started out with a curve ball. It ended with a 3-2 breaking ball (for strike 3)that would've been ball 4 had Sano laid off. He does take big hacks. Perhaps shortening up that swing is the only way to fix him. With all that power he would still be able to hit bombs without swinging for the moon. It was unfortunte Beloit couldn't take advantage of the strong wind blowing straight out to LF. The hardest hit ball was a foul by Adam Bryant. It had the distance but he hooked it by a few feet. Matt Koch had a sac fly that landad near the track, He seams to be a very fly ball oriented hitter. I like his power potential and I think he could move ahead of Chris Herrmann on the catching depth chart some day. Jonathan Goncalves had a few hits and scored both runs for Beloit. I was impressed by his speed. Fox Cities Stadium is very nice. Pretty big crowd yesterday which included some K9's. I doubt the game today will have nearly as many people. Hopefully today's game will feature more offense from the Snappers. I look forward to watching Jason Wheeler pitch. After the game we will be visiting Green Bay which is only 30 miles away. Check out lake Michigan and get something to eat. Tomorrow morning make the drive back to the Twin Cities.
  15. arbitration...maybe. However, the topic is about comp picks and arbitration no longer has any effect on draft compensation. The Twins will have to offer Liriano around $12.5 million AND Liriano would have to turn it down in order to get compensation for him. He would have to find his 2006 form for the rest of the season in order for the Twins to even consider such an offer.
  16. In other words, none of them. And, arbitration means nothing this year in regards to comp picks...as I understand it. Its gonna be a while before the Twins can think about getting any sort of comp pick. Maybe Morneau would be worthy of such an offer (top 125 average) after the 2013 season depending on injuries and production. Otherwise, we won't have anyone for a while that would be worth anything near the amount required to get compensation. I hope this made sense...
  17. I'm heading out to Appleton tomorrow. Very excited...
  18. If you hear about the Twins signing a draft pick, please post it here along with any additional info that may be avaliable (such as dollar amount or team assignment or whatever).
  19. I think last year's draft will prove to be a success. Didn't care for Michael but the next 5 picks (Harrison, Boyd, Boer, Williams, Summers) all have some promise along with a few others. This year's draft I'm not as confident outside of Buxton. Berrios has some potential as do a few others.
  20. In Klaw's latest insider, which inserts every teams top pick into thier prospect rankings, puts Buxton ahead of Sano. With Sano's poor fielding and VERY alarming strike out rate, I can't blame anyone for putting Buxton ahead. I'll even suggest that Rosario and Arcia are on the verge of jumping over Sano. Sano needs to get it together.
  21. Jorgenswest, that was a great post but I will counter a couple things. While WAR is a great stat, it does not tell the whole story. Span is one of the best in the game at making pitchers work. He often does what a leadoff hitter should do and works the count early in the game. You also have to consider the contract, which is very team friendly. This of course plays a very big factor in his overall trade value. Those two things (mainly the contract status) make me believe the Twins should be able to get more than Bourn and McLouth. If not, then yeah, we gotta keep him.
  22. Yeah, I tend to agree, Buxton was not my top choice but that had nothing to do with Aaron Hicks. I've never been a big fan of player comparisons to begin with. So even though he wasn't my top choice, he is a Twin now and I am excited to see what he can do in the futuere.
  23. Exactly, it he's not up by the end of the 2016 season, that means something went wrong. Either injury or just overall lack of production. He'll play with the GCL this year. Next year is a toss up but no matter what he starts 2014 with Fort Myers(meaning if he plays for E-twins next year and plays well, he skips Beloit the following season). 2015 he starts in New Britain and ends in AAA. 2016 he makes his debut at some point. Again, this is assuming he performs well and avoids major injuries.
  24. I'm starting to think Brown told scouts not to draft him below a certain point, which passed long ago.
