  1. I guess the Twins are happy with the starters they have in the system.
  2. It would be great if he signs quickly enough to play GCL opening day on the 18th!
  3. Overvalued at 45 by Keith Law too I guess.
  4. Cuddyer made his debut in 2001, thats 4 years by my math. Kubel was drafted in 2000 and dubuted in 2004. Span is your only legit example. He moved slow then got screwed out of a job when the Twins traded for Gomez. So the saying that I am fooling myself by thinking that Correa or Buxton will be in the bigs within 5 years, well, the evidence suggests otherwise, all you have to do is take a look.
  5. 3-4 years is not aggressive by any teams standards for a player taken so high. Cuddyer, Kubel, Mauer, Morneau were all drafted out of high school and they were all in the bigs within or around 4 years. Not all these guys were even 1st rounders. So the point is, if THEY can move through in that amount of time, why can't Buxton so long as he's producing? Oh yeah, and Revere too. So 6 years IS extreme.
  6. Not right away but next year would be a safe bet. Also mlhouse suggesting Correa or Buxton would take 6 years is quite extreme. Even the Twins wouldn't take nearly that long to get such a high pick through the minors unless something goes wrong. 3or 4 years would be more accurate.
  7. Are you joking? Please tell me you're joking! If not, please give me one example of a flame throwing strike out pitcher who the Twins converted into a pitch to contact pitcher. Just one! The Twins have too many pitch to contact guys, this cannot be denied. but the idea that they take power strike out pitchers and TURN THEM into contact pitchers in proposterous. So just stop with this crap PLEASE!
  8. 4-5 last night with a HR and a double. 2 run homer in his 1st AB today. The guy has been sizzling lately! Now the question is, how much more of this will it take to start talking promotion?
  9. Argenis Silva, the 16 year old Venezuelan pitcher is the one I'll be keeping an eye on most. He seems to have the most upside. I know there are a couple Dominican pitchers who signed to 6 figures this off season. Miguel Ganzalez signed for $650k so he should be watched closely. Also Sebastian Perez, who just turned 17, got a nice bonus but I can't remember exactly what it was. Who am I missing? I don't really know of any position players worth watching but I'm sure there are a couple.
  10. I can't imagine any other team would leave him in the minors with the numbers he is putting up. Its almost criminal at this point. If the Twins don't give Slama a chance, somebody else will when he signs with another team this offseason. He'll move on and have major league success, and the Twins will have the excuses rolling out as to why Slama wasn't given a real opportunity.
  11. Not that I've had a lot of faith in the scouting department these last few years, but to be fair, Michael in the eyes of many national writers was not a bad move. There were several writers including Keith Law that had Michael ranked higher (pre draft) than where the Twins drafted him. That being said, I, like Seth, can't seem to get very excited about him.
  12. To date Perez is batting .245 with 3 HR's and 13 doubles. He has not shown the power he showed last year. Good news is he isn't striking out a whole lot. Just 20 K's in 151 AB's. Hopefully he can put up slightly better numbers and eventually get promoted to New Brtitain. I have a feeling he may hit better there.
  13. Ummm, sorry but no. That ball went about 370. Even the "big boys" as you call it don't play at parks that big. And if softball parks WERE that big, Parker would not have made that point about Revere not having any HR's in slowpitch softball in the 1st place.
  14. Funny how Mackey writes about Slama having "solid" numbers. If his numbers are just solid I would like to see what GOOD numbers would look like.
  15. No softball field I've ever played at would've held this ball http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=18043337 Hey Parker, inaccurate statements are not good for credibility.
  16. I thought of that after the fact but still...major event, huge economic impact, summer 2014...what am I supposed to think? LOL, oh well, good for the volleyball fans I guess.
  17. I was on the WCCO website this morning and there was an article about a "major announcement" from the Minneapolis mayor regarding an event coming to the city in the summer of 2014 that would have a huge economic impact on the city and state. Obviously, my immediate thought was, what else could it be besides the MLB All-star game. I'm sure everybody here knows the Twins are a favorite to get that game and an announcement should come soon. Then 11:00 came and they announced it would be a junior national volleyball tournament. Just thought I would share my disappointment with everyone here. I still have hope that we get that game.
  18. I wouldn't mind one bit if the Twins used a Supp pick to grab him. Also, its been pointed out already, but Klaw had him as the 45th best draft prospect in his latest ranking so it wouldn't be a terrible reach to use one of those picks on him
  19. I have that feeling too. He seems to be a pretty smart pitcher with good comand but his stuff just isn't that good. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a good debut with the adrenaline pumping and all that but otherwise I don't think he'll last too long. Best of luck to him though, its always fun to cheer for a local player, now the Twins will have three Minnesota natives on the team as they did when Neshek was around.
  20. shoot, and I was just about to start a "Butera For MVP" thread.
  21. 100% true. One of the most annoying misconceptions about the Twins is that they move players too slowly through the minors. As you pointed out, if a player is dominating, he'll move quickly. There have been some players that took a long time to move through the system, but all you have to do is look at their production over the years and you can see why.
  22. Why don't you take this garbage somewhere else. Like the Star Tribune comments section...
  23. For selfish reason I would like Sano to stay in Beloit for another month. The trip is set and the hotel has been booked. The family and I will be going to Appleton, WI on June 10th and watch the Snappers as they are bing hosted by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. If Sano and/or Rosario are gone by then I will be a little hurt but expect to have a great time anyway.
  24. I guess the wisdom behind Giolito is that teams in the top 10 may not want to take the risk, and teams below that know they would have to pay him well above slot to get him to sign. So if he IS still around at 32 the Twins would be stupid not to take him. With all that spending flexiblility they could just use much of the remaining top 10 round picks on college seniors that would sign for peanuts. In all honesty I don't think he gets out of the top 10. Klaw said in a chat yesterday that the latest medicals on him arm making teams a little more comfortable. I would not mind the Twins taking the Rochester kid at 32 or 42 if he's still around.
